Title: World XI
Post by: Doore on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, 23:28:37
Pointless question but did initiate much debate down the pub earlier tonight.  Simply name your best team from current players around the world.  Not the best 11 players, but construct a team.  Took me ages, but my eleven goes:

Casillas

Maicon
Puyol
Lucio
Clichy

Pirlo
Xavi
Iniesta

Messi
Ronaldo
Drogba

Name your teams people.

The boundary between a madman and a genius is vague at best.

puyol is a fucking liability, too old and past it. Alves is good going forward but a very average defender plus hes a fucking cheat, i would have torres instead of drogba. fabregas instead of pirlo.

I'd have the current world champions - Spain.

EDIT. Obviously I meant European champoins

Lucio? He's average. In fact your defence is rather average all round. I'm disgusted Doore.

I'm sure there's a few more, that would fit into that team...like Sid Swinden...who actually played for us.

Sadly Dwight never played for York, like Julian Darby never played for Derby, or so far Leon Barnett for Barnet. None of the Charltons for Charlton or Alan Sunderland for the Mackems.

Wayne or Clarke Carlisle have never been on the staff at Brunton Park to my knowledge, or Frank Boulton, or Joe Bolton never featured for the Trotters.

George Berry will always be remembered fondly by Town fans for a showing of rare ineptitude at Selhurst for the Pikeys.

I think Joe Jordan should be in there as well.

I take it your team would be very attacking, what with no goalkeeper? Guess you would have to put Dublin between the sticks, as I seem to recall him being an emergency keeper in the past?

Ooh good shout...

NMH I did notice the lack of a keeper....I suppose Jon Sheffield would do.

Did you know he was the first man to wear a number 40 shirt in Premier League history?
