Post by: tans on Monday, August 10, 2009, 14:04:37
Im beginning to think we may have dropped a bollock by releasing him  :o

Had a blinding debut by all accounts.

To be fair it is League 2 which he excels in ....

But I still rate him more highly than I ever rated Timlin

 :fishing:

I wonder if  has caught hold of him yet?

As for the not rating Timlin compared to Pook, that has to be one of the most ludicrous things ive heard.

Both are L2 standard.

I'd say Timlin is better, but he hasn't looked great so far this season. Possibly the worst player on the pitch on Saturday, and that's saying something. He has done better for us before though so hopefully he can turn it round fast, otherwise Easton will be seriously questioning why he is on the bench.

Theyve only played one game Reeves.

I was including the pre-season matches too, in which Timlin didn't impress me all that much

timlin i think is better.but he didn't get abuse and boos from his home town club like pook did to make his job harder

People comparing Pook and Timlin? It wasn't that long ago people would spend most of their energy on trying to destory the local lad over how shit they thought he was. I've said it many times, he was far better than our ans made him out to be. He was forever the scapegoat.

Goo d uck to Pook...treated like shit by the club really...didnt hear him complain when he was owed wages...was pleased to pull on the red shirt....not really a great fan of his but hope he does well....not a great fan of Timlin, but its time to get behind the players not slating after one match.

Yep. Was proud to wear the shirt, always gave 100% and improved a lot over the years. He wasn't good enough for Swindon any more in my opinion, but I hope he goes on and does well.

That's exactly the way I feel. Good luck Pooky

Be fair. Timlin has had some good games against some good teams. For example Scunthorpe at home last season he had an excellent game.

Only time Pook ever put in a good performance was Boston United (soon to be relegated to conference north) and Crawley pre season.

The one thing he did, was try.

Now whether he was good enough will always be open to debate (personally I don't think he was), but he always put the effort in.

How many of those that played Saturday could say the same, not very many.  >:(

Always struck me as the headless chicken type, more than the lazy fucker.

Always seemed to be running around, even if he didn't know why.

Too slow in thought when in possession. Had a reasonable 'engine' but it isn't enough. Good luck to him though.

He's found his level, his best season for us was in L2.

I thought he was a committed player who couldn't play at league 1 level - he'll probably make a half decent career in league 2 but trying isn't enough in football - chuck me in a town shirt and fuck me will I try, but I will also fail.

on the subject of timlin... the best i've ever seen him play was against portsmouth pre-season, i didn't see him once in our L2 season as I wasn't in the country, same for his follow up loan spell in L1.  Saw most of last season and Saturday.

I've honestly not seen anything to suggest he's good enough for us, I'm with Reg, he's a L2 player.

one of the best players for us tonight was involved in every goal

Probably true but if we could then I'd get rid of one of him or Easton and replace with another CM and get in another CM in on top of that.

I think that CM is the area (other than striker obviously, but will get sorted i'm sure) that we desperatly need to stregthen.  I honestly think the Gills game would have been much, much closer if we'd had a decent CM alongside JD.

I also said the same thing after Luton in pre-season, Easton and Timlin are simply not good enough for us as far as i can see.

I'd have been there tonight if it wasn't for work and i'd probably agree with you about tonight but we deserve more, a Curtis Weston (these days) in our midfield would be far, far better than either Easton or Timlin could be for example.

This area MUST be sorted out as far as i'm concerned otherwise the signing of JD is, for want of a better word, pointless...

I remember him coming on at Yeovil last season and looking distinctly unbothered, and that weren't the first time.Dont ever remember him being full of endeavour, more like "look at me,I've made it".Maybe thats just me though.

All i rememeber of Pook is have a very distinct average game (at best) for town, and then being a complete utter cock to anyone who had the miss pleasure of crossing his path in Old Town/apartments the same night giving it the big I am.
