Title: London people and good food
Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Sunday, August 9, 2009, 19:19:10
Right i would like some serious suggestions for a nice place to eat in central london, not too expensive but good food and nice atmosphere, Im taking out my ex girlfriends parents who are over from mexico, my ex passed away a couple of months ago so this is there trying to get through the grief process, therefore i want to treat them to something classy but fuck spending a small fortune on it.

thanks in advance.

If you want an amazing curry then Tayyab's is the best I've ever had. Bit tricky to find but well worth it and dirt cheap (it's bring your own booze which might make you feel a bit trampy but if you bring some wine they'll have glasses and put it on to chill if you're waiting for a table). It is always busy - if you don't get there early you will have to queue for a table!

It's a respectable place but not fancy, so if you're expecting top notch class surroundings I wouldn't go there though.

You don't want to spend a small fortune, yet you're going somewhere that charges 6 quid for a bowl of tomato soup?

You can get lunch at a triple Michelin star restaurant for that.

At your table? Or do you just pick them from a tank and he sorts it all out in the kitchen?

You seriously cannot beat a fresh, well cooked fish stew.  Sounds lovely.
