Title: Todays Cricket
Post by: Johno on Saturday, May 28, 2005, 18:54:36
Today, i bowled 12 overs which has killed me. figures were:
12-44-1-1. so i had 1 wicket for 44 runs off 12 overs.

i had 2 catches dropeed at slip which was very annoying! and then we went on to lose. they hit 210-5 and we were 98 all out   I hit 4 runs (great cut shot through the fielders legs) NOT OUT! probably helped that i came in at my usual position of 11.  :D

yeh im an opening bowler. left arm over. yeh...for my age im about average pace probably. i don't know exactly. i had 1 slip, but 2 catches dropped by 2 different people who were in slip as they changed during the game.

Johno, Is it true that Calne always bowl first so the game will last longer. Cos Calne are so bad at batting they always bat second if they can.
I know they don't like to admit it, but I know that's what they are thinking.

:soapy tit wank: i like your thinking. If we had the players avaliable every week that probably wouldn't be an issue as last season when we had all players avaliable we were top of our league. at the moment though we are barely getting a team, so maybe you might be right. if i was captain though i would do it the other way round so i wouldn't have to field for 2 odd hours!

Cricket was legendary yesterday, all cos a guy called Austin was playin, he has a great eye and his idea is to hit the ball as hard as he possibly can. He is very lazy though and wont take the single cos he can't be arsed to run 22 yards. He hit 76 off of 20 balls.

I bowled 10 - 3 - 22 - 3

I bowled:

6 overs
1 maiden
1 wicket
16 runs

First change bowler but probably should have opened with the team we had out!

I then hit a beautiful cut through point for a meagre 1 run and got out next ball to a yorker! I can't bat!

We played a touring team from Hampshire twice this weekend. They always bring a couple of ringers, but they surpassed themselves this year with one guy who was playing test cricket for New Zealand 3 years ago and another one who scored 129 not out on Saturday and 70-odd not out Sunday. Not surprisingly we lost both games heavily.

My contribution was 4-1-12-0, 10 runs and I dropped the Kiwi at deep mid off.

Wonder what Boeta will have to say on the matter. They got their ass kicked.

We're playing awfully. Relegation in both divisions is looking on at the minute, but there's a long way left.

Ian Blackwell today

Disappointing but not surprising to see Somerset fail to defend such a huge score

In both the games I played this weekend we lost. 1sts v Stone; scored 15 and Development Cup v Frocester; scored 20. Two starts and failed to go on with them both.

Last Tuesday we went through to the Cotswold Evening Cup quarter finals after beating Cricklade under my captaincy. We've got the first Evening League game on Wednesday

Did you play this weekend Dave?

The opener (on 10, went on to get 71) started to play a drive and pulled away, thus running the ball along the face of his bat, straight to me.

He knew he hit it and started to walk. Changed his mind and turned back- as the umpire said not out.

I called him a fucking cheating wanker. Loudly.

 Did you play at Frocester?

I've spent many a happy hour at the ground there....when they used to go a long way in the village thing.....had a bird who lived nearby and used to pedal out on a Sunday as you could get a beer as the pubs closed at 2:00.

Yeah that's Tom. I've played against him for years and always got on really well with him.

Nah, it was at home. I plyaed there a couple of years backfor the U16s though.

Man for man we were as good as if not better than Frocester but performed horrifically.

bloody somerset! it was rubbish bowling. Rob Turner was captain which i have nothing against but at the death he put the two youngsters on. Andrew and (someone) instead of using Keith Parsons who is experienced. Cost us the game at the death.  :x well, i was planning on going today and i would have seen some quality batting as you always do down at taunton.

No, you'd have seen average batsmen (apart from Hildreth) take advantage of a brilliant track and tiny boundaries as you always do down at taunton

exactly, you see alot of runs, its good.  :-))(  Watching Blackwell on there in form is class though.

yeah but seeing a lot of runs doesn't equate to good batting

but i know what you mean, its just your use of wording was dogshit but then its to be expected

ha he's probably alright now that was over 5 years ago and he's a few years younger than me.

Have you ever played against James Giles? Their website says he was in the 2nd xi last year.

Someone at Goatacre used to play for Frocester, Rhan Heer.

I believe his son (Immy) still plays in the youths.

Good figures there Johno.

We had a 5.5-hour round trip to Lausanne for our first league game yesterday. Worth it though as we won by 3 wickets. I took one for 22 - caught and bowled the bastard next ball after he had not walked when he clearly got an edge to the keeper.
