Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 16:46:10 Think it must be age catching up with me, but the thought of going to Luton on a wet Tuesday night for a meaningless friendly, just doesn't do it. Generally speaking Luton is best avoided if at all possible.

Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 18:29:13 On the basis of absolutely nothing I predict we'll draw or lose tonight - not that it matters. Should be a decent run out for them though.
Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: DV on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 18:35:05 only seems a minute ago we went there and dicked them 3-0.
Fallon at the double and a goal from fucking Hewlett I think. In that time we've gone down to L2 and back to L1. Luton have gone up from L1 to the Championship, down from the Championship to L1, down from L1 to L2 and down from L2 to the Oxford League. Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 18:54:16 Luton have good squad blending youth and experience. It's not an easy league to get out of as Oxford and friends have shown, but they've done well to keep players like Tom Craddock.
Their line-up tonight shows that they really shouldn't be in the BSP - but rules are rules etc. LUTON: Mark Tyler; Keith Keane, Alan White, George Pilkington, Jake Howells; Adam Newton, Asa Hall, Kevin Nicholls, Andy Burgess; Liam Hatch, Tom Craddock Subs: Claude Gnakpa, Aaron Fletcher, Ed Asafu-Adjaye, Ian Roper, Drew Talbot, George Beavan, Kevin Gallen, Lewis Emanuel, Adam Watkins Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 19:05:32 Gnakpa plays for them? Ace.

Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 20:06:13 1-0 Douglas...nice, 1-2 on the edge of the box and a finish from the edge of the box.

Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 20:38:08 Tom Craddock is one of those players i would take a punt on He has scored a few in his career so far but not an out and out goalscorer as such. Might be worth a gamble, and is still young. Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 20:41:55 Finished 1-0 in the end, not bad really, still only a friendly but every win is good for morale and confidence.
Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Luton Fan on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 20:58:16 Good goal! but I think a little fortunate to get the win in the end.
All the best for the season and hope to see you in the league someday......soon!!! Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 21:49:54 Where are the post match ratings? Shocking
Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Kinky Tom on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 22:23:34 Very lovely goal, not much in the game really, Luton, on that showing will be straight back up.
Liked Douglas, didn't lke Easton at all tonight, Timmy looked better when he came on. Mackiln looked lost for the first half then suddenly came alive for a while in the second, a good ten minute period from him suggested he's nearly there. O'Brien is very quick, Lecsinel looked good, Kennedy looked comfortable. Big plus was Lucas for me, big booming voice, constantly communicating with the team which was very comforting, if not a little annoying... Macca looked very confident when introduced. In all I'd say we looked organised but I'd like another CM and the obvious striker but if Lloyd can show more of what he did in the spell leading to the goal and after then maybe he can step up and we'll only need the one? So nice to catch a game, in Luton news they have the fattest player I've seen in a very long time, played some of second half wearing 15, can Luton Fan shed any light? Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 22:26:09 15 is Ed Asafu-Adjaye according to their website. Know nothing about him other than I signed him on FM Handheld and he was very good.
Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Kinky Tom on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 22:38:01 That name doesn't sound likely to me, 15 must be the proper squad number, he didn't look anything like a 'Asafu-Adjaye' more a Jack Ginster.
When I get up I have ten pints, a curry and a hot-dog then i go out and play some football then have another curry - that would be his theme tune. Looking at the subs used and when I think it must have been Ian Roper. Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Kinky Tom on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 22:42:01 Different Roper I think, not West Ham(?) but Wallsall:
http://www.lutontown.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10372~9944,00.html edit - IBIMR has removed his post, meh... Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 23:59:24 that number 15 was a bouncer, i enjoyed shouting "no trainers" every time he got the ball. He must be a joke player surely?
well, david lucas has a gob on him! fuck me he makes schmeichal sound like helen keller, i thought Lucas was great tonight, pulled off a couple of good saves, caught everything and good kicking, plus he bossed and informed the defence. Kennedy and amankwah had similar games, both effective, occasionally caught but quick to recover, good going forward. Lescinel and greer look a very promising partnership, Lescinel looks very composed on the ball and fuck me has he grown 6 inches in the close season? Obrien is fast as fuck, he looks a cracking signing, good cross on him too. Easton looked like a leauge 2 player, he tried hard but it just wasnt happening, mcgovern put in a good shift, however man of the match was easily douglas. fuck me is this the signing we have been waiting years for? If you could imagine a really fast and fit Nallis then your getting close, hes hard in the tackle, comfortable on the ball, great vision and when timlin came on he next to him a midfiend player that seemed to be on the same wavelength as him. Everytime douglas got the ball he seemed to have space, brilliant signing me reckons. Timlin was much much better than easton and i reckon him and douglas will be our first choice, they complimented each other very well. Macklin looked totally lost for 55 minutes, he then got injured and looked like he would have to go off, but he stayed on and for the next 15 minutes was fucking awesome, winning balls, running at defenders, chasing down, him and douglas combined beautifully for the goal, a brilliant back heeled one two. he has a powerful shot on him to. The thing that showed for me though was when macklin clicked Paynter looked so much more dangerous too. Paynter definately needs someone there alongside him scurryin around and causing trouble as it frees up space for billy. We so need another striker..... Macnamee came on and did ok, so overall not a bad night, it was a good work out with lots of positives, not a huge amount happened but as a training exercise was spot on. Cant imagine Luton not coming straight back up, they looked tonight like an average league 1 team. Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: lambourn red on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 08:01:17 "Cant imagine Luton not coming straight back up, they looked tonight like an average league 1 team" I hope that comes true and our inbred friends from up the A420 have another year of misery after missing out to Histon in the playoffs.
Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 08:38:48 Good summary there Mex, welll it appears to have highlighted that we do as we all know, need at least 1 more striker.
Unfortunatly its not going to be Samba or Spencer as both have been released from trials with us. Title: Re: anyone going to luton Post by: THE FLASH on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 09:16:27 Well i enjoyed my soggy evening in Bedfordshire, even if the fucking fish n chips cost £5 and you got two chunks and 20 chips.....
Heres my slant on the evenings events. David Lucas - For the first time in a while i was confident in my keepers abilities, the busiest keeper by far made a couple of good saves and commanded his area well - on this showing, a good signing. Big Kev - Got roasted every time their winger got hold of the ball and seemed out of position alot - improved second half - I prefer him in midfield as the bossy ball winner. Greer - excellent but a couple of sloppy easy passes that he gave away. French Les - looked composed but missed an easy header which they should of scored from but overall i was happy with him. Callum Kennedy - Did very well - Ifil came on and had little to do. JP - As ever great control but couldnt seem to get the killer cross into the box and his delivery was poor - linked well with rest of midfield. Craig Easton - Wasnt at the races last night but did try - Timlin held the ball well enough. Douglas - Excellent - not too sure about the other comments of speed but he made time for himsef with clever control and positioning and played some great passes. Great worked goal that had the Luton fans around me applauding and my Luton mad mate loved him. He will do better when he has some strikers to pass to. Easily MOM. O'Brien - pissed down that left wing AND.....he could cross....will do better with some targets in the box! - Macca caused havoc when he came on - Luton were fucked and had changed most of the side so he ran riot. LLyod Macklin - Disagree with comments above - for me he started badly and faded...only won two of a possible 200 headers and was bullied off the ball far too easily - sometimes it was as if he was in the way...biggest disappointment of the evening for me and some more evidence that we need strikers and quick...Thompson came on for him late on.....but it was all over. Billy - excellent holding play and winning headers but he was on his own and if DW thinks that Billy on his own in any L1 game will be enough then we are fucked! He had nobody to link up with as Macklin lost pocession or fell over when he played him in. He and Douglas linked well but often paynter was in Midfield, ball winning - could of had a goal if O'Briens pull back been more accurate. Ajorfree - didnt play so very happy with his performance! Overall - Luton were worth at least a draw and squandered some great chances and Lucas saved the rest - good luck to them. They will probably feel they should of won, but for once we got stronger in the last ten minutes or so. We looked in better shape and the signing s looked good BUT we need Strikers and fucking pronto!!!!..... NB - Why am i getting texts from 'Moms Anal Adventures' - any reason Tonga???? |
