Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Batch on Monday, July 20, 2009, 11:29:08 Striker, released by Everton, product of Oldham yoof system, 20 years, in 2008 loaned to Yeovil (0 appearance??!) and Macclesfield ( 3 appearances)
Just to save you looking it up in Wkipedia. ----- Worth a look I guess. Bit worried about the options up front at teh moment, but I guess there aren't any experienced strikers available at the right price. Or are there.... Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Ginginho on Monday, July 20, 2009, 11:30:03 Yeah, just seen that, could be interesting!
Hailed as the "New Rooney" when Everton signed him - here (http://www.oldhamathletic-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=278934) Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Dazzza on Monday, July 20, 2009, 12:08:13 Everton paid approx 200k for him when he was 16. Highly rated at Oldham as a youth team player but according to Evertonians he was nowhere near the standard required and failed to develop as expected. In the end he made a couple of reserve team appearances and became a forgotten man.
The same reserve team Jukebox Jury was playing in, which doesn’t exactly bode well if he couldn’t get a game. Worth a look I’m sure but he sounds like our very own Mark Draycott. Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, July 20, 2009, 13:18:30 Ooooooh Betty.

Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 10:51:59 He's not coming here...or Samba.
http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/4505119.Striker_light_/ I'm especially glad Samba isn't coming. We don't need a journeyman. And the Adver hacks wouldn't be able to stop talking about Samba football...which they haven't done now for 20 years since Ardiles was in charge. Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 13:35:38 Fuck that Ardiles.
If you can't talk about Samba football then what else is there to talk about? Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 15:29:22 Samba soccer

Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Bennett on Friday, July 24, 2009, 07:32:07 whilst i understand us being thrifty and looking at free transfers there's usually a reason for them being released. i am now getting quite concerned that these seem to be the only players we're looking at, especially as we keep taking midfielders on when we've got bigger problems elsewhere.
i do have confidence in DW and don't claim to know the financial clout we have or which "irons are in the fire" i would have preferred us to have gotten past the 1 striker in a squad phase a while ago, and a left back. yours faithfully bennett Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, July 24, 2009, 10:23:09 whilst i understand us being thrifty and looking at free transfers there's usually a reason for them being released. i am now getting quite concerned that these seem to be the only players we're looking at, especially as we keep taking midfielders on when we've got bigger problems elsewhere. i do have confidence in DW and don't claim to know the financial clout we have or which "irons are in the fire" i would have preferred us to have gotten past the 1 striker in a squad phase a while ago, and a left back. yours faithfully bennett We have Kennedy, Timlin, Casal and Cuthbert who can play LB Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: chalkies_shorts on Friday, July 24, 2009, 10:44:44 We have Kennedy, Timlin, Casal and Cuthbert who can play LB The first and last seem reasonable options. I think Timlin and Casal can be positioned at left back - play is a real stretch. Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, July 24, 2009, 10:46:07 Are we still considering Casal as an option anywhere on the pitch? The guy is clearly finished here.

I'd give him the captaincy. He's clearly a legend. Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, July 24, 2009, 10:57:49 I'd give him the captaincy. He's clearly a legend. Well shut my mouth :) Title: Re: Scott Spencer Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, July 24, 2009, 13:19:50 Kevin Amankwah and Jean-Francois can play at left back also.
