BREAKING NEWS: West Brom's £2million Cox bid accepted

Fair play to the board for getting a good deal....but whats all this bollox about not telling us fans exactly what we are getting...thaught those shitty days were over obviously not,as someone whos invested alot of time and money into the club i for one want to know what the deals worth...ime fed the fuck up with all the secrecy every time we sell a player...heres hoping when the Cox deal goes through we are told what we are getting and what the plans are for his replacement.

Could it be a player plus cash deal and Fitton doesn't want to alert other teams to a players availability that we could be signing - maybe?

How does the sell on clause work when there are "add ons" in a deal?

Is the sell on just for the initial fee, or do they get a cut of any further payments?

A bit disappointed the £2m includes add ons rather than them being extra.

I was told that in this instance a third party - i think the FA - decide on the 'value' of the transfer and the sell on fee  is determined as the percentage of that.

I was ranting on at work a month or two ago about selling Pook to someone for £3M and giving them Coxy for free, meaning we wouldn't have to pay Reading anything. Apparently someone gets involved at this point and works out the real value of Cox in the transaction, and then Reading get their 40% of that... bastards.

At least it protects us from "they've got 2 million to spend" when dealing with other clubs, in theory.

Its all a bit silly as it comes out in the wash/papers anyway.

With that sort of money we should be winning the league!

West Brom are really sensible with their money, a good model for us to use. They don't overspend when they get promoted and instead just gradually strengthen the team. So at the moment they are going up and down all the time but eventually they should be able to sustain Premier League football.

I haven't checked the odds but I'd be surprised if West Brom aren't one of the favourites for promotion. At minimum they will be in the play offs but I reckon they will bounce straight back up.

Completely agree - if this club is run in the future how WBA have been for years we will be secure and, in time, relatively successful.

Ime still not sure ware this 40% sell on figure came from...as i am aware no one at the club has banded this about..........anyone know for sure,seems extremely high to me,in fact the biggest ive known.

BBC RS said that Mr Fitton had told them it was 40%, that was before the Bristol Rovers game during the pre-match build up Leefer.

So ware getting a million for him then really........rather we made him see out his contract  then Reading would get 40% of nothing,and we get a guarnteed season of goals........i can dream eh.

Depends on what the figure really is. AF has said in the region of 2 mill, DW however on the bbc said 2.5, So who knows, but even if 2 million will still get at least 1.3 as the 40% is the figure after 200k is taken off.

Though technically hypothetical, on past evidence they would be quite likely.  Hypothetically, Lee Peacock could score 35 next year. 

If we viewed everything hypothetically, everything would be equally possible.  Not a great basis on which to conduct transfer activities, I would say.

Only with some really backward logic. "Hypothetically" doesn't indicate any likelihood of truth to a statement. A bit like when people think they can make their point equally valid to others with the old "my opinion" bollocks.
