Title: Sweden v England
Post by: nochee on Friday, June 26, 2009, 09:58:36
Are playing in the Semi-finals of the U21 Euro championship tonight.

Win this and we are in the final against either Germany or Italy.

Psycho is doing a great job with the young lads, i wish them good luck.

This Marcus Berg chap has good stats at domestic level - I imagine his employers Groningen will struggle to keep him long-term.

Frazier Campbell sent off.

Joe Hart is the man.

That was cheeky as fuck from Hart.

Milner really went to town with the turf kick, didn't he! That'll make it a bit looser for everyone else now too...

Joe Hart misses the Final if they go through!

Joe Hart out of the final as well as Campbell and Agbonlahor. We aint even going to manage to get a team on the pitch even if we get through.

What was it that Hart was booked for?  Saying something he shouldn't I'd guess as the Swedish keeper is doing all the actions and jumping!

Missed!  England go through!

No strikers in the final?  Walcott on his own up front really didn't work so I hope that they figure something out.

Thought Gibbs had another good game, and Rodwell seems very mature for such a young lad.

My missus always does the penalty shoot-out guessing game - always pointing out the ones she gets right and never mentioning the vast amount of predictions she gets wrong :)

I would think england will be beat us in the final - the fact that Manuel Neuer has been our best player tells the full story.

England suffer from the same disease as the senior team, namely an inability to keep the ball....which inevitably means at some point we come under a lot of pressure, when playing technically decent sides.  Against the Swedes, we got away with it just, because of their more or less total inability to deal with corners.  I guess we'll go with Walcott up front and Milner and Johnson wide.  Hart will be a miss though, because he's a bit of a character...gives off a lot of positives to the rest.

I would also like to know why Simon Cox is not playing in this.

Simon Cox > Frazier Campbell

Simon Cox is 22.

He would have qualified for this comp though, you needed to be <21 when it began about 2 years ago.

More or less you have to be playing in the Prem.

Reggie S is correct - James Milner is 23 years old.

Andrew Driver's inclusion was suprising - an attempt to sway him to remain "English"?

no presence up top tonight, once we went 1-0 down there was really only one winner.

wonder how many of them will go on to play for the first squad?

It was a sad way for Milner to end his somewhat overlong U-21 career. I imagine he might get capped in the next year.

yep, he will - have to say i don't really think he's lived up to the potential he seemed to have when he was here, probably down to the fact he was at the toon for too long.

I'd have thought a fair few...Richards, Walcott, Agbonlahor already have played for the full side. Milner has been in the squad.  Gibbs and Rodwell certainly will. Muamba has been impressive.

I'll give you them, but for instance I don't really see the captain Noble making the grade, Muamba just strikes me as one of those players that will unexplainibly be overlooked by England managers.  Hopefully Hart will have a good season at Brum.

He might get 4 or 5 caps if he's lucky. Most of them would be already capped if Sven was still in charge.

Much like Lennon and Wright-Phillips.  Its a conundrum.

i'd take walcott over both of those doore.more direct.did well as an impact sub, but i dont think he is anywhere near where he should be.

I think W-P has had his chances with England.  I think Lennon could be at a similar level to Walcott, if only one of them could get some consistency in to their play.
