Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Spy on Friday, June 26, 2009, 08:38:55 Me and FB were talking about the wheatsheaf at the weekend. I was saying its boring.

Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: stfctownenda on Friday, June 26, 2009, 14:42:28 Table Football, Pool Table, Juke Box, Quiz Machine, hot student girls during the holidays..... at least is was like that when I used to go. Now no table football, no juke box and not many hot student girls. Still got a quiz machine, pool table and alcohol, quite a good little boozer all the same. Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, June 26, 2009, 15:20:39 Many moons ago the Wheatsheaf was my local...before the bit was built on the back.
Most of the regulars were against it, when it happened because it meant an influx of young underage drinkers...the students that Cookie refers to were mostly about 16. Fair game for the King of Tonga's harem, but a bit risky for the more upright citizen... I migrated never to be back on a long term basis....at the time I estimated my custom to be worth about 3 grand a year...I suppose double that now. I do use it on occasions these days, and still find it a decent enough boozer. Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Arriba on Friday, June 26, 2009, 15:25:07 i go in there occasionally.prefer it to the shite down the bottom of town
Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Westwood on Friday, June 26, 2009, 15:27:02 I read these pages and don't usually say much, unless it's a truely momentos occasion, re MJ thread. Reg this is one such occasion. Respect. £6,000. Shit I don't even earn that a year. Well maybe.
Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: axs on Friday, June 26, 2009, 15:40:08 I go there occassionally, nice pub and 50p pool.
Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Friday, June 26, 2009, 15:43:54 At least its not the one in Calne *shudder*
Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, June 26, 2009, 16:03:59 I read these pages and don't usually say much, unless it's a truely momentos occasion, re MJ thread. Reg this is one such occasion. Respect. £6,000. Shit I don't even earn that a year. Well maybe. Could well be an overestimate of inflation though...my original estimate was based on 30 pints a week at roughly 2 pound a pint....at that rate it would be more like 4.5K at today's prices. Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Westwood on Friday, June 26, 2009, 16:09:14 Reg, the same applies, cos I will put money on, that, that is not the only place you drank.
Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, June 26, 2009, 16:50:28 Reg, the same applies, cos I will put money on, that, that is not the only place you drank. Used to use the Lamb and Flag, or the bar in the Wiltshire Hotel on match days. :) Brunel Rooms, Tuesday night and Vadim's at the weekend...apart from that mostly the Wheatsheaf. These days I'm reduced to mainly weekends, and the odd foray in the week...apart from holidays etc. Just can't do 7 nights and work any longer. Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Westwood on Friday, June 26, 2009, 18:08:06 Reg, I must have seen you at sometime. Ships in the night spring to mind. Not in a womanly kind of I wanna fuck sort of way.
Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: reeves4england on Friday, June 26, 2009, 18:17:03 Now no table football, no juke box and not many hot student girls. Still got a quiz machine, pool table and alcohol, quite a good little boozer all the same. Agreed. I don't exactly go there often but it seems nice enough. Although it's true about the influx of underage drinkers! Being 20 that doesn't bother me too much!Title: Re: The Wheatsheaf Post by: Doore on Sunday, June 28, 2009, 20:12:36 Used to go there quite often during the week when it was usually quite quiet, used to quite enjoy it. Avoided it on Friday and Saturday though - too close to that club in Old Town (name escapes me).
