Title: Andy King
Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 09:47:56
I havent bothered looking to see if its been mentioned on here.

But hes just got out of hospital after spending the weekend in hospital after suffering a heart attack on Friday.

Though I am not his biggest fan, best wishes for a speedy recovery, don't wish that on anyone.

Absolutely hated the bastard both as a manager and as a man but don't wish any harm on him as long as he stays away from STFC. Speedy recovery.

Never hated Kingy, was behind him most of the time but he had to go, wish him all the best, a dying breed in football...

I was behind Kingy right until he left. He gave us some memorable and amazing games and as a result I have yet to enjoy my Football as much since he left. Sturrock may have achieved more, but the Football was never as Rollercoaster like as Kingy's brand.

I have to say i met Mr King at a supporters doo and he was a very receptive man answered questions honestly, has a real affection for the club and has played a part in our history.I think hes a real character and is not afraid to speak his mind, which a lot of people didnt like,Mr King i hope your on the way back from your illness as i for one will be glad to see you at the County ground in the near future.

Over rated and lucky to last as long as he did IMO...its no accident he didnt manage after leaving us,..............but hopes he gets well and that he feels well soon.

I loved the way he would always bring up his wife Barbara in his post match interviews...

It gave a sort of late 70's sitcom feel to the post match experience, she was this rarely seen, 'er in doors kinda character. Class.

Get well soon Kingy...

I met Andy on a number of occasions before matches and he was always a great guy towards me. I know a lot of people didn't like his brand of football but they took it all too personal with him.

I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Yes you are right, he was running a pub, before he went to Plymouth

He introduced the term "Fanny-Flicking Football", what did that mean?

His post-match interviews were peculiar to say the least.

Could he have kept us up?  The world will never know.

Not the same without Malcolm Crosby, but hopefully a speedy recovery to long continue at Plymouth, and not here.

I think he would have kept us up. Easily the most underrated manager we've had - hope he's ok.
