My fear is that Jim Magilton will take an interest.

I'd have no fear if he did - as long as spent at least £2m. I'd cash in now. £2.5m seems to the top price for a striker from this division. If Cox stays and scores another 30 goals, his value won't have increased .If he has a crap season or gets injured then his value decreases.

Fear was the wrong word. I think a lot of fans might have relaxed a little bit. QPR are indeed the only team outside the Premiership that would be willing to sign him for the desired fee.

I guess the only way Cox staying would be logical from a financial stance is to get him to sign a year extention and hope he's a badass again.

Going back to Reading seems like a reasonable shout now. If they get good money for Doyle then they would get Cox relatively cheaply due to the 30 or 40% sell on fee. Rogers nurtured him as a youngster and cox would not  be going bak to warm the bench.

Well certainly the only club in the right location willing to.

Leicester are right, £2.5m is too much for him.

£1.5m is a fair price, in the current market.

With the 40percent we are realistically just selling him for 900k,after the 250k we spent then i can see why fitton wants to hold out

My fear is that Jim Magilton will take an interest.

QPR fans are very unhappy with Briatore these days,at their last home gome there were many
fans chanting against him. This year they've shown very little inclination to spend, however that
might change with Dexter Blackstock likely to be sold. But with Helgusson and Rowan Vine fairly
similar to Coxy, they might prefer to look at a target man.

There has been some speculation about Magilton buying some Ipswich players, but QPR fans seem
to think that loan players are the likeliest outcome.

I think £2mill plus is a perfectly fair price when you look at the inflated transfer fees around at the moment.

Where else can you get a proven goalscorer at such a young age for such a fair price?

And as DRS says £1.5mill works out at well under £1mill in our pocket and if we sell him at £2.5mill then £1mill goes straight to Reading, we paid £200k plus for him so thats £1.25mill profit.

Simon Cox - 22 - 104 games - 46 goals (£2.5mill value) strike rate of 1 goal per 2.26 games
Matt Derbyshire - 23 - 100 games - 26 goals (£3mill transfer) 1 goal per 3.84 games
Rick Lambert - 27 - 336 games - 104 goals (£1.5mill value) 1 goal per 3.23 games
Kazim-Richards - 22 - 157 games - 12 goals (£4mill value) 1 goal per 13.1 games

Even though Derbyshire and Kazim have played at a higher level their strike rate is far inferior.

£2.5mill is fair in my eyes.

But I still feel hes off to Reading to replace one of their impending striker depatures.

If he does go back to Reading, I wonder if we'll get a 40% sell on clause as well?

I reckon that AF may well shy away from deals involving big sell on clauses in the future.

Last year City paid over £2m for Maynard, yet he never scored the goals like Cox did.

Yet there was reports at the weekend that Fulham are paying £2.5m for an unknown American who's never played over here, and that Kevin Doyle of the plastics is worth £6.5m.

Putting that altogether, £2.5m is not an unreasonable demand.
