Title: Recommended book Post by: Doore on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 20:39:04 I know there was a thread on footy books but I can't be bothered to look back and find it. Anyway, everyone with an interest in football and world politics should read Baghdad FC by Simon Freeman. It focuses on the Iraqi national football team during and after the reign of Saddam Hussein. Brilliantly written and fascinating - I've read almost all of it in the last two days.
That is all. Title: Re: Recommended book Post by: leefer on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 21:06:28 Cheers,,will look it up.

Awesome read, probably read it about 6 or 7 times now. Title: Re: Recommended book Post by: Leggett on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 12:47:35 I am part way through 'the strain' by guillermo del toro and chuck hogan, its an actually-good vampirey style set up, without all the romantic-y goth shite that goes along with 95% of the genre. Oh, and the first of a trilogy. Woop!

He was bit odd but the book did sound goodTitle: Re: Recommended book Post by: larwood on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 16:58:43 I must get the Harold Larwood biography written by Duncan Hamilton. His book about Brian Clough was fantastic so will be interesting to see how he writes about cricket and presumable someone he didn't know that well.
