Title: league one promotion odds Post by: goodster on Monday, June 15, 2009, 23:42:26 Leeds 10/11
Norwich 13/8 Charlton 11/4 Franchise 11/4 Millwall 7/2 Brighton 4/1 Huddersfield 5/1 Tranmere 6/1 Southend 6/1 Southampton 7/1 Colchester 15/2 Oldham 9/1 Brentford 12/1 Bristol Rovers 12/1 Wycombe 12/1 Swindon 14/1 Exeter 14/1 Carlisle 14/1 Gillingham 14/1 Walsall 20/1 Hartlepool 20/1 Leyton Orient 20/1 Yeovil 20/1 Stockport 33/1 my first thought are why are brighton 4/1? and tranmere 6/1 under John Barnes!!! can't see them doing anything Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: goodster on Monday, June 15, 2009, 23:43:27 should have said taking from the coral website :D
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: ronnie21 on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 07:25:02 With 46 games to go they are pretty poor odds, apart from the bottom five. Realisitically, we should be about 20-1, along with Brighton!
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: nevillew on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 07:27:38 How can Leeds be odds on ? they've failed twice already.
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: lambourn red on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 07:31:11 Tranmere at 6- 1 with John Barnes installed as Manager is a joke they should be relegation favourites and as for Brighton I can only assume they are looking at the guy who has given them 90 million in loans to build their stadium I dont quite know how that converts to having a good football team. Also Brentford and Wycombe lower odds than us is a bit strange I can only think they are looking at what Posh did last year although I think they should be looking more at what Hereford did when it come to those 2 really can not see any of the promoted teams doing anything other than struggling.
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: Batch on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 07:59:30 Didn't we have this conversation last year when they predicted we'd struggle. At least it's mid table this year :)
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: pauld on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 08:04:02 It's pretty daft offering any kind of odds before you even know what the teams will look like. But looking down that list it's just the standard "Big/rich/just come down teams to do well; financially struggling/just promoted teams to struggle; everyone else throw a dart in the team list" stuff they do every year. It bears as much relation to a serious analysis of the relative merits of League One next season as the Adver's cookery page

Big names don't make the best managers. He didn't go well at Celtic, and if his wooden performance in front of the Five cameras is anything to go by, he'll bore them stupid. I think he'll be out by Christmas...and with lower gates !!! Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 12:40:34 those odds are shit

It's just bookies putting the big clubs as favourites.
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 18:07:54 No, odds are based not just on likely performance, but the amount of money being placed. That'll be why Leeds start off with such low odds, to cover the amount of cash going on them from uninformed gambling addicts. That'll probably explain Tranmere as well, although last seasons form will drive some to put money on them as well.
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 18:26:05 You would expect 20/1 to be for a team in the middle of that list.
Booo Coral. Rubbish!!! Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 19:08:38 I fancy Millwall to go up next year.
Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 22:53:10 Those odds are terrible compared to what you can get on BetFair; Leeds at 3/1, Southampton 28/1, Swindon 59/1.
Though admittedly there isn't much action available on there at the moment. It was a rhetorical metaphor (or some such)Title: Re: league one promotion odds Post by: Spy on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 13:19:07 I want a betfair account... (or do I?)
