Title: Liverpool Post by: DV on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 12:57:08 Quote from: "dave_m_russell" Fair enough rules are rules ...but...champions are champions Title: Liverpool Post by: Johno on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 12:59:06 liverpool are champions of europe. 5th in the premiership and lost to birmingham twice in the premiership. lost to Palace.... weird huh!?
Title: Liverpool Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:00:38 i think they should be allowed to defend there trophy but then how do you let them into the champions league when all the spaces from the Premier are taken up?? Would be unfair to tell Everton they can't enter because Liverpoole need to defend there trophy.
catch 22 as they say Title: Liverpool Post by: janaage on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:02:54 To qualify for the Champions league you must finish in the top 4 of the Premiership. That was the rule before the season started. Stop fucking whinging. Fucking hell Johno I never realised you were such a big Liverpool fan. You'll be wearing their shirt to the CG next.
Title: Liverpool Post by: Piemonte on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:05:13 I was waiting for the first JA anti-scouse rant of the day :fishing: :king:
Title: Liverpool Post by: janaage on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:08:59 That wasn't an anti scouse rant PM. Fair play to the low lives of England, to come back and rob the italians of their rightful victory took a lot of guts. I'm just overwhelmed by the amount of people on here celebrating like Town had just won the LDV or something. I find it difficult to celebrate other clubs achievements. That's all. Even a few of my mates were cheering last night, WTF is that all about. Glory hunting that's what I call it.
Title: Liverpool Post by: Piemonte on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:16:58 you miserable cunt.
I was cheering last night when they got back to 3-3, and when they won the pens. so what? I wanted them to win and its not like STFC are in with a chance of champions league qualification is it? and i can assure you if you had had piemonte-cam when fallons goal went in against brizzle or brighton that is celebrating Of course you'd take no joy from hibs winning the SPL would you? Title: Liverpool Post by: janaage on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:21:19 Like that's ever gonna happen PM, fucking Glasgie monopoly up there!!
I apologise for my miserable-ness but I just can't help it. A bergrudged well done to all real scousers out there, especially those who went, must have been amazing, however the fake fans get a middle finger salute. Title: Liverpool Post by: DMR on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:22:21 Quote from: "janaage" Fair play to the low lives of England, . Scotland weren't playing Jan :soapy tit wank: Title: Liverpool Post by: janaage on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:24:29 Queue the tumble weed.
Title: Liverpool Post by: Batch on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:32:32 If the rules say top 4 qualify and no provision for the holders is made then tough titty. Thems the rules.
It would be unfair on Everton to bump them, it would be unfair on any other country to bump a place off them. Title: Liverpool Post by: janaage on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:36:06 Quote from: "Piemonte" you miserable cunt. That was a quality start to your reply though fella!! These clubs who moan about the rules after the season piss me off. Ipswich fans are the new moaners, going on about what a bad idea the play offs are. Fuck off you tractor boys if they crept in to the PO's and went up they'd effing love 'em. it's only cos the bottle it all the time that they've got a problem. Title: Liverpool Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 13:47:09 Highlights of the match on sky sports at 3pm. Gonna watch it as I can't remember much of the match from last night!! :beers:
Title: Liverpool Post by: Batch on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 14:00:20 Can't see it....

Even a few of my mates were cheering last night, WTF is that all about. Glory hunting that's what I call it. I feel quite sorry for people who can't see any further than their own club. We're all Town fans here (apart from Oxford fan of course) but I thought we were football fans as well. Obviously not all of us are. I love football, full stop. I don't care if I'm at a non-league game, the County Ground or watching Eurogoals or the Champions League Final on TV, I love the game. I was jumping up and down when Shevchenko missed that penalty but I'm sure as hell no glory hunter, it was just a fantastic game. You know when you are watching it that you are whitnessing something that people will be talking about in 10, 20, 30 years time. If you can't enjoy on occasion like that just because your own club is not involved then that's very sad. Title: Liverpool Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 14:11:22 I celebrated because I support any English team in Europe (although this may not apply if a rival of Swindon was there!).
If people did not support their conutry's teams in Europe then the Champions' League would fall apart due to lack of interest. Wake up and see the facts jan! :boring: Title: Liverpool Post by: OOH! I don't even think there is an actual rule set in stone that says that the Champions don't automatically qualify the next season. UEFA just decided on a whim one day that that should happen. They are a bunch of wankers. You don't play any competition in any sport without the reigning champions. End of. Quite right, if this situation was different, for example if it were Man U, then UEFA would bend over backwards to let them in, same would apply were it Real Madrid, AC themselves, B. Munich etc. They'd all be in no questions, so why not Liverpool? Title: Liverpool Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 14:22:37 Quite right Kinky!
Just imagine what they would do if Inter had qualified ahead of Milan! :arsekisser: Title: Liverpool Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 15:15:24 If it wasn't Everton who finished fourth then it wouldn't be an issue, Liverpool would get straight into the champions league and whoever finished fourth would be out on their arse.
Title: Liverpool Post by: oxford_fan on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 15:22:29 anyone here vialli's suggestion last night?
whoever won it last should be straight into the next final, everyone else plays to face them in the final match for the cup. Fuck off, Gianluca. Fuck off, Gianluca. And how would the team that automatically goes through to the final make any money throughout the season, in the absence of all those other games they'd play?! Vialli, he can't seriously have said that can he? If so he's an even bigger muppet that I thought. Title: Liverpool Post by: Johno on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 17:26:01 jannage mate, um, not really a big liverpool fan, im just happy that a club in england won the champions league. i can't stand man united, hate them with a passion, but when they won the champions league final i was happy for them.
