Title: Corr off to Bournemouth
Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 17:03:33
Apologies if it's already been posted.

Eddie Howe is having a look at the big man pre-season.  Good luck to him, if he gets that shoulder sorted he'll be a menace at that level.

Yeah, my birthday where my car broke down, preventing me from attending what would've been my first away game!

I honestly think this doesn't matter to me one jot.  Tough breaks and all that, but why more deserving of best wishes than other players who seem to get the old "close the door behind you" type comments?

Possibly because it's not through lack of talent or application that it hasn't worked out - a good young footballer in an 80 year old's body.  It seems a shame.

I didn't make it as a footballer for the same reason as Michael Pook - because of crapness.  This seems less of a shame.

He'll always be fondly remembered for banging one in against Mansfield that day - what a cracking day (Spencer - Captain Rum at the Steam?). All the best Baz.

What saddens me most about the Corr situation is that he genuinely wanted to do well for us, and never really got the chance due to his injuries.

Good luck Barry.

We had a big smash on the motorway on the way there

Even rum tasted good that day.

RobertT, Barry Corr has got a love of the game that is very rare in footballers nowadays. He was in it for the glory, not the money.

Barry Corr - Top bloke.

Because he was a genuine nice guy and was desperate to do well here but unfortunetly injury meant he didn't get the chance.

I wish him well and hope that he can stay injury free and get a run of games, I think he will be one that we will regret not keeping and taking the chance.

Good luck toi Corr (sorry just catching up on news, I know this was posted ages ago), genuinly loved playing for Swindon Town I think, you could see the tears in his eyes when he was strechered off for us. That goal against Mansfield and the stratton bank rocking will live with me for a long time.

We had a big smash on the motorway on the way there

I remember that....we drove past and the car was flipped over. Then we heard from someone else that you guys somehow managed to make it to the ground in time for kick off!!

Great goal that day. Strange how Barry Corr got so much acclaim and ALMOST the beginnings of "cult" status when he didn't actually do that much for us. Obviously you have sympathy for the injurys.

I still fucking love super barry though.

Corr and Cox were unplayable that day.

Remember turning up, everyone thinking we'd be in the side stand, then being ushered behind the goal with a load of other confused town fans. So badly organised. Then there was the Bournemouth fans leaving early and giving it the biggun behind us. Only to be hunted down by police moments later.

Great day out.

I wonder if Exeter realise he's bones are actually made of balsa wood?

In all seriousness, good luck to him. I hope he comes back fitter and better and does well for them.

Tisdale will perform some kind of miracle and somehow keep him fit.

Golbourne is a good signing for them too.

No pressure Wilson.

Indeed. I've seen a lot of people on footballforums.net predicting Exeter will get relegated. I actually think they've got a sneaky chance of making the play-offs.

Exeter have a lovely set up and are a good little club, they play good football and will surprise a lot of teams, I don't think they will get relegated.

They have one of the best up coming young managers as well.

Been a while since we last played a league game v Exeter.  The last game at the CG was notable for being Lou Macari's final appearance....he got nutted in the nads by Herthab-a-like John Shaw, ex Shithead custodian, when being too slow to beat him to a bouncing ball.  Think this convinced him it was time to quit playing.

Of further interest was the last minute winner by Colin Calderwood, whereby the Exeter defence all streamed out looking for an offside, and The Fridge dinked it over the top to run onto himself and score...just class.

I remember the season before when Leigh "monkey" Barnard played against us while on loan at Exeter and his first kick was placed firmly on Lou Macaris shin in the middle of the park and got promptly booked for it.

And the Shaw incidend I vaughely remember one of our players, Colin Gordon I think who said he spotted Shaw coming off his line because he saw Shaws bald head glistening under the floodlights before he chipped him!

I wonder how long Corr will last at Exeter before injuring himself. I hope he does manage to stay fit however!

That's at least one goal concede next year then.  Ex-players and all the rest of it.

I think, if (biggest if ever) he stays fit, he will score goals.

I hope he can stay fit and bang in the goals at Exeter (Apart from against us, obviously)

I always thought he was a class player when actually fit, not to mention his attitude, which always appeared to be spot on.

Good luck Bazza.

i dont get the fucking corr love in? yes he scored 1 great goal away at bmuff but the bloke was a fucking drain on the club, constantly injured and with him gone it now frees up a place for someone that might play and not end up like stephen hawking everytime he jumps in the air.

couldnt give a toss how he does.

Personally it's for scoring against Mansfield at home that time.

So fuck off and do some running.
