Its not just the SPL though is it, Setanta have a chunk of the Premier League TV rights as well which Sky can't take on (due to the EU ruling). I reckon someone will buy Setanta if they do fold, maybe Virgin or ESPN or Eurosport.

Talk is of Setanta going to a wholsesale mode, i.e. they sell the rights of individual events off to whoever pays the most.

They already held talks with Sky to explore putting them into the Sky Sport package, but talks broke down.

Whatever, I suppose it means those reliant on the funds (SPL, whatever other sports) are going to get less money and end up in a bigger pickle than the FL did when ITV Digital went belly up.

There is talk of ESPN picking up Setana when they go into Admin, that will then give them a foot hold for premier rights.

Let's hoep though that Setana goes under and ITV / BBC pick up the away coverage of england games so we can see them of terestial tv.
