Still my favourite Swindon game I have been to, I was a 12 year old and remember it like it was yesterday, the Arse had a team full of internationals and we were singing Wembley 69 to them when it was 3-1....happy days, thanks for that Bedford.

You used to get classic own goals without the backpass rule.

And the sheer misery if Cox goes and Wilson doesn't get in the right player to replace his goals.

What a season we had in 79/80. The League Cup games with Arsenal and Wolves and the in FA Cup
against Spurs.

One of the best cup performances that season was in the  FA Cup 1st Round, when we were at home to Brentford.

They had a decent side and were in the top half of Div 3 with us.All week in the London press and media
they had been saying how they were going to come to the CG and beat us.

We went at them from the first whistle and at half time we were 4 nil up! Some fantastic team play and
class goals. We just tore them apart in those first 45 mins.

On the train back to London after the game, i overheard some Brentford fans saying," You have to admit
that Swindon in the first half, were absolutely fantastic".

We also went to Griffin Park, just after Christmas and beat them again, this time in the League  ;D

It was such a shame that we couldn't keep things going in the League, but in terms of entertainment, that
season has to rank as one of the best for Town fans.

Still my favourite season as a fan, beats the Hoddle years and the Premiership IMO.

Don't forget the 8-0 home win against Bury the week before the Arse game as well.....wonderful days.

My favourite game of all time, made all the more special for me as it was my 16th Birthday.

I remember in Extra time discussing where the replay would be, before Rowlie popped the winner in.

That game (and the winning goal in particular) is the reason my Son is named Andrew :D

I remember being in the Stratton Bank with my mate Andy McHugh (Gooner) right behind the goal (we were 14).  In the Second half when Arsenal scored he ran onto the pitch and dropped his packet of fisherman's friends and Pat jennings picked them up and started eating them as he was escorted off by the Police - it was his claim to fame for the next 12 months... I guess he had nothing else to talk about! :)

That game was the night before my accountancy finals.
I spent all night revising, and turned on the radio just as Rowland scored the winner.

I missed the Bury game four days earlier because of revision as well. 12 goals in 2 home games!

From a corner, if recollection is correct.

We got to the game late, Our Bus Driver thought the best way to get to North London was via Baker Street  ::)

When we got there the bloke on the gate told us not to bother coming in as Arsenal were already one up.

I was stood with a load of mates at the clock end, towards the back near the Arsenal fans, after Billy's goal & I had stopped celebrating I found myself right down the front.

Our coach got bricked on the way out, although it didn't smash the window. We were better off than the coach in front, who had a very draughty trip back to Wiltshire.

To this day I haven't seen Arsenal's goal from that game, not that I'm really that bothered :D
