Title: Cox Walsall goal Post by: swindonbob on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 10:53:57 ...was on Soccer Am's showboats of the season.....only lower league moment in the whole lot i think.

Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: FlashGordon on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 12:02:10 Soccer Saturday have just been bumming his goal as well, up there with goal of the season in the country...add some zeros to the price tag
Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: swindonbob on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 12:03:20 They were just doing a review of the top Premiership goals on Soccer Saturday....and at the end they picked out Cox's goal (on its own as an exception) and showed it three times in a row. All 5 pundits agreed it was the top goal of the season in any league!
Makes me feel proud I was there..... Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 12:26:42 I was suprised to see Cox's goal get some attention on another forum I post on, in a 'Goal of the Season' thread. It was actually the poster's inspiration to start the thread 8-)

Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 12:42:44 Its about time that goal got the credit it deserves. I could go to Swindon for another 30 years and probably wont see a better goal.
The Football League awards decided to ignore L1 and L2 totally. You could call me a bit cynical, but its definately part of an agenda to distance the Championship from Leagues 1 and 2. When the league talks about big changes, prepare for our league to be cut further adrift. Spencer - I agree about the Championship trying to distance themselves from L1 and L2. Lets just hope we make it up there before we get cut adrift! Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: leefer on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 12:56:26 Saw that...also said Millwall have sold 50,000 thousand tiks for the playoff final!!!..thats an amazing amount.

Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: jonny72 on Sunday, May 24, 2009, 13:39:09 I was there and didn't think it was that special at the time. I had another look at it recently and I was wrong, not sure if its the best I've seen at the CG but its definitely in the top 3. Not sure it will make much difference to his value though, it didn't help much with Fjortoft.
Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, May 24, 2009, 13:43:41 It wasn't that good. I've scored better goals down the park.
Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: swindonbob on Sunday, May 24, 2009, 13:57:06 It wasn't that good. I've scored better goals down the park. Same here - last summer, the ball fell down behind me, and I backheel-volleyed the ball back over my head and then volleyed it in. Best goal thats ever been scored in this town I reckon. Not cynical at all, that was precisely why they came up with the ludicrous "Championship" rebranding, so they could market "The Championship" as some kind of rival to "The Premiership". Oh, and then there's Leagues 1 and 2, the embarrassing backward cousins kept hidden away in the corner in case they make a show of themselves in front of the guests. As a result of Birmingham's promotion back to the Premiership, they won't need the parachute payments, so the Football League have divided the 15 million between the rest of the league clubs. Unfortunately,it's not quite as straight forward as that, with Championship clubs receiving a little over half a million each.League 1 clubs receive 70 grand each, whilst League 2 clubs half as much again. Title: Re: Cox Walsall goal Post by: Summerof69 on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:31:50 At the FL Awards they had the best goal of the year (i.e. 2008), and since Coxy scored it in Feb '09, he's a shoe in for next years award.
