I knew it was up 3 years ago.

the lad still had a few years as a pro at the club he supported as a kid.everyones time is up at one point or another.

Agreed, I know a lot of people on this forum have little time for him as a person as well as a player but every time I met him and spoke to him he came accross as a nice lad and always polite and had time for a chat.

All the best to him for the future, but I doubt he will ever consistantly at this level in the near future, 2nd division or Conference he could be a good performer.

Yes he does and he was getting singled out even when he had that spell of a few games where he was excellent. However, the article is about Pook so quite obviously people will comment about him, though quite why people get personal seems a bit strange to me.

Worst town player to play over 100 games I think. I've said from the start he'll be non league by 23. We'll see next season.

Has a good golf handicap though (and only Mark H will get that I dont know if he even reads this site anymore?)

I was never much of a fan of his TBH and yes he was pretty crap but not the worst player to play 100+ games for us IMO by miles.

No Reg my mistake, Cowe player 108 games but Collins only 68 :(

Amazingly, Collins was with us for almost five years.

He played 63 league games out of a possible 214 :D

Was he on one sexy contract or did McMahon keep extending it?

Collins was a bit like Pook, never did much, had trouble finding a red shirt, ran around like a headless chicken, but a good trainer (apparently).

the lad didn't quite progress to the level he would have hoped i expect.but he didn't deserve the stick he took.imagine getting booed by the people of your home town,for the club you've been at since primary school.hardly going to inspire you is it?he was always up against it.fans usually forgive players for their mistakes if they show effort.pook didn't get that from town fans.ifil gets cheered but has been a much bigger liability.

i dont believe lunnyboy about him pissing it up before games.he would have either not been in the squad,or it would have been a different day.
i am also convinced alot of people were jealous of him.and because he wasn't the superstar homegrown player,people become negative about the lads personality.he's a nice fella,and gave his all for the club.

I think Howe Cowe Robinson and Duke were considerably better than Pook-agree with the others though and you can add Adi Viveash to the list

Boring fact, I was the first person in Swindon to get Lee Collins signature - even before the club did.

 Did Adie really play 100 games....I was a bit of a fan of his. He started off a as a winger but ended up at centre half....he overcame a very serious broken leg and did well to play again.

 He's an absolute legend at Walsall.

Viveash only played 81 games so no he cant be added to the list.

And I stand by my earlier judgement on Cowe, Howe, Duke and Robinson (the biggest waste of £750,000 in our history!)

I remember reading an article about Albion Rovers who at the time were propping up the Scottish league, and so were considered the worst team in Britain.  The Guardian dispatched a journo, who in his piece mentioned that McMahon was there watching Lee Collins.  He joined us shortly after.  I was impressed at the time, thinking fair play for putting in the hours...and thought Collins might be a good signing. Wrong.

The dream/nightmare midfield of Collins Leitch and Bullock, only ever played a handful of games together, because of injury or suspension.

A bit of "muscle" would have been handy in this seasons squad though.

Cue the transfer rumour that we're after Jason Statham......

I think he did ok seen as the fukin disgrace this club was when he was a youngster learning the trade..some weeks not getting paid etc...i think he will be relieved to get away from the club anyway,didnt think he was great but then Nallis,Timlin,and a bunch of others are any great shakes either...

Perhaps Pook could join him at Ebbsfleet?. Fatbury really would be riding his lovestick then......

Pook was never as bad as people make out imo. We've had far worse players and he's still a kid for christ's sake.

I wish him well and hope he gets a good move. He deserves some fans who would get behind him, becuase he needs a break from playing the skape goat 90% of our fans have made him out to be. I've always felt pretty sorry for him to be honest, he in no way deserved the treatment he sometimes got. That's not to say i'd want him in the team, because i wouldn't, but that's not to say he couldn't be a good player at this level. Good luck Mikey baby.

Disagree he was a cunt of the highest order anyone who goes out in old town regular knows that Pook is out every single weekend getting beered up.  Speaking to most girls saying hes a professional footballer to impress them.  Wont work next season though when he says he is a Supermarine player to them.  He once said to a mate of mine in the Spot I don't give a shit what Swindon fans think I am sat on a grand a week doing nothing.

People don't detest local lads trying to make the grade I think we would all be supportive of an upcoming youngster, its more the strut around Old Town thinking hes 'Billy Big Bollocks' and better than everyone else.  He was given a chance to play professional football, personally if I was ever in that situation or given that chance I would not have knuckled down and tried to make something of it, not gone to bars every weekend.

To be fair, if I was getting paid that amount each week for just turning up for a couple of hours training each day I wouldn't complain.

He had to cut it in footballs hardest position. Central midfield. Unfortunately he wasnt good enough anyway.

Bit harsh on Robinson. I thought he was brilliant during the 95/96 season.

We can discuss The Pooker's alleged drinking habits  :puke: and attitude :whogives:, but he is absolutely right he was never in Wilson's plans.  Wilson has already set the expectation of quality not quantity.  Maybe he should give Malpas a ring.

Andy Nicholas was an alleged pisshead, but Malpas made a huge blunder by letting him go for Yinka the Stinka.

No one takes Howe's mantle as the worst player ever to grace our midfield, not even Pook. And Howe really was an alcoholic cunt. He has/had issues...

Don't matter if the guy is a street sweeper if he goes around with a swagger thinking hes the 'bees knees' then I am going to think he is a cunt.  Jealous no, more annoyed that people just waste opportunities they are given.  He had a chance to make a career instead he pissed it up the wall.

As for a drink after work, its hardly the same as your average Joe having a beer after a day in an office.  There career relies on them being in good physical condition and being fresh for a match, getting hammered every night at the weekend hardly prepares them.

I hope this season Danny Wilson stamps down on the drinking culture within the club and we focus on getting up the league.  I think the 2 arrests following nights on the town this season have proven what a bad image the team being out on the Town can have.

to be fair to Pooky if u was to ask the players the fittest players in the squad u would be told Sam Morris & Pooky, and the best players in training were always Pook & McGovern.
I agree Pooky isnt good enough compared to the players we have but to say he is shit because of his lifestyle is way wide of the mark

100% agree arriba. Never understand why he took so much abuse, OK there were times when he wasn't good enough but he didn't merit the abuse some dished out. Shame it didn't work out for him here, but you can't accuse him of giving up on it. Hope he does well elsewhere.
