Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: THE FLASH on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 09:09:50 Who shoots in his pants over Man United.......
Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 09:19:16 Giving these old pros a World Cup medal now (after 43 years for goodness sake!) is embarressing. He knows it, we know it.
I doubt he, Greaves, Flowers, Connolly, Eastham, Paine, Callaghan, Hunter, Bonetti, Byrne and Springett have ever kicked up a fuss about this. Well... maybe Greaves :) Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: THE FLASH on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 10:21:38 Maybe Greaves would of been good enough to play....Armfield...Meh.
Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 10:23:50 Armfield and Flowers were England veterans, probably adding experience to the squad - I wasn't around so I don't know whether that's true :)
Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Gelbfüßler on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 11:39:47 Greaves wouldn't have needed extra time to score a hattrick.......... apparently
Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 11:45:20 After the Rugby world cup, Greaves announced he was more interested in rugby than football... No one cared!
Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Gelbfüßler on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 11:54:18 The 2003 one?
Greaves wouldn't have needed extra time to score a game-winning drop goal. Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: nevillew on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 11:58:22 Maybe Greaves would of been good enough to play....Armfield...Meh. Armfield did get 43 caps, so he probably was good enough. Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: THE FLASH on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 12:06:17 Armfield did get 43 caps, so he probably was good enough. Disagree....and....he got picked for 1970 as well didnt he?? John Barnes...loads of England Caps....not a good rational! Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: larwood on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 17:33:01 I'd far sooner listen to Greaves than Armfield on the radio.
But i also hate Alan Green as well so its probably just me :) Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: donkey on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 18:38:31 I'd far sooner listen to Greaves than Armfield on the radio. But i also hate Alan Green as well so its probably just me :) Nah, Alan Green's a whinging old git. Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 19:05:25 Maybe Greaves would of been good enough to play....Armfield...Meh. Greaves played in the first 3 group games in 66, got injured and Hurst came in. Greaves was a fantastic player, certainly in the top ten England players of the post war period. Title: Re: Jimmy Armfield Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, May 14, 2009, 20:43:17 Who shoots in his pants over Man United....... Nothing wrong with praising the best team in the country. Well... maybe Greaves :) |
