Title: Re: Football ground names Post by: Arch Stanton on Monday, May 4, 2009, 09:19:59 Disappointed that Austrian team SK Sturm Graz dropped 'The Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium' for a more corporately named - UPC Telekabel Stadion.
Rumour has it that a poll took place to allow fans to name the stadium referencing famous Austrians, Arnie only just won, he pipped Adolf Hitler. This was mainly thanks to a campaign from meddling rival fans all co-ordinating their votes for the fuhrer. BTW Arnie's name was dropped because of his supportive views of the death penalty in California. Always used to line them up as a friendly in old Championship Manager games. Them, The Met Police, Hearts of Oak and Qwa Qwa Stars nearly always made up my pre-season calendar, it was a punishing schedule. Most of the grounds in India appear to be crumbling. The Bangalore stadium looks very decrepid.
