Its ridiculous that so many tickets have been given to us on "Police advice" Should have been made all ticket to Swindon Fans and we should have been given 500 or so tickets in a corner of main stand. Its depressing that so many home fans should have to miss out on a promotion party so Swindon fans can clap off a few losers and get their last fix of meaningless football for a few months..

I agree.

I quite honestly do not care one little bit about Saturday's game, and the last thing I want to do with my Saturday is watch another team celebrate promotion.

I am very tempted to buy a job lot of away tickets and travel up to flog them to home fans.

It is a bit sad for them...But if they'd given us 500, they'd have had to give us more when we sold them. Them's the rules. Not sure what the exact figure is but you have to give a certain percentage of your capacity to away fans if the away club demands them, and we could easily have taken loads had we needed something.

Oh, la de dar, look at me.

Give it a rest, it's a meaningless game.

How did we get on with the Wiltshire Shield Final or whatever it's called now?

Good question. I went to a couple of games in it last year, chippenham away and someone (salisbury?) at home, but not seen anything about this year.

I hope we lost, it's nice to make the little clubs feel good.

It was about this time last year, at Salisbury funnily enough, that I decided Kanyuka was awful.

In fact I think he is still pulling his pants up now from the roasting their winger gave him.

Not everyone just has Football to think about Axs,you remind me a bit of the bloke from Fever Pitch or a  "returnee" after a few years of not bothering.

True, but then I only have football to think of.

And i still think if you are bothered about the game you will make the effort to make sure you get a ticket.

Their ground holds 15,000. their average last season was under 6,000, even if we have 2K spare on the terrace there's plenty of room for those who make even a small amount of effort to get a ticket.

I just looked  at their site and its probably 8k,so yes you have a point,I still think there is no need to give Swindon such a big terrace. When we came up I brought my Brothers (2) and my Nephew.Neither have come since or had been more than once before during the season,As I remeber it we had "proper " fans on her moaning that they couldnt get tickets, one was Phil i think?(who i sold a spare to..I may be wrong) I just think its a shame...

Excuse me for probably sounding somewhat silly however what's all this about police advice? Am I just not up to speed or has there been previous rilvalry between us and posh? If not it all seems a lot of fuss over nothing and I couldn't see an issue with dividing the terrace up so posh fans can see their team go up officially. I can't for one minute think why there would be any trouble?

But you're forgetting we're football fans and there's always one idiot who will try and start something. Mob mentality would kick in and you'd have a full scale riot on your hands.

I see your point, however the separation between Aldershot and Barnet away was minimal and apart from a bit of goading, there wasnt much else to write home about.

But until as recently as Saturday there was still a possibility that it would be a high tension match with potentially both sides needing a positive result to achieve their objectives. It's expecting a bit much for the Police to be able to react and downgrade the level within a couple of days. Easy to imagine a flashpoint under those circumstances.

The thing i dont understand about segregation is that at places like Stamford Bridge, the Lane, Old Trafford, the Hawthorns there is just a single line of stewards/ police... no whole sections of ground fenced off... surely they could do that for some of the bigger games to maximise attendances?

Didn't the same happen with us a few years back with Sunderland fans invading the County Ground?

If these Posh "fans" wanted a ticket they would have got one! I don't have a season ticket, but haven't missed any of the big games for years because with a little bit of effort you can get one.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Saturday and hope we have as few home fans in the Away end as possible. Why would you want to restrict our fans to 500, i want to see us take as many as possible, enjoy a decent ground, make a good atmosphere and generally have a good day. We've got the right to certain % of tickets and I hope we sell as many as possible, fuck the grumpy bastards who don't want to go cos it doesn't mean enough and the lazy twats who couldn't be arsed to get a ticket a week ago.

Lets just go and have a laugh and a few beers with some mates, enjoy the sun and make a bit of noise, which is the real reason most of us go, no?

The only excuse any Posh fans without tickets can have is that they live far away from Peterborough, or they have been serving in the Armed Forces. Other than that, no sympathy.

Im looking forward to saturday, knowing that weve booked ourselves a place in a much improved League 1 next season. Cant wait.

The problem was that the decision about how many tickets had to be made before the Rovers game.

had we have needed a point (or more) from the Peterborough game we would probably have sold the 2,000 tickets.

Not for a pitch invasion. Even if they kicked off I can't see it happening, I don't recall there ever being a points deduction for something like that. A fine and a suspended ground closure would be the worst that could happen.

Though I think Southampton are bricking it a bit after their fans kicked off against Burnley, invading the pitch and throwing a flare in to the Burnley end. Really bizarre as Southampton fans are normally as good as gold.

I think there was a bit of trouble when Plymouth played Posh in the FA Cup last season. Plymouth won with a dodgy penalty and muff wound up the Posh fans by celebrating in front of them. I think there was a bottle thrown at the muff players.

The club probably didn't expect to have the level of demand from the home fans that they are getting, so it's a rather silly move on their part. It's a Peterborough issue, not ours. We can't help it if we've been allocated a particular amount of tickets and we don't sell them all.

No he's not. Why get depressed about people you don't care about not getting tickets?

Odd.

When we had Walsall last game a couple of years back the following happened to me:

I have my daughter every three weeks and when i do i dont go to football (i love Swindon Town but i do love my daughter more!).

At the last minute she became ill and couldnt come.....it was Thursday before the game and i couldnt get a ticket.....so i did what the posh fans did and begged for one on the forums and luckily i got one at face value...

That does not make me a Cunt!!

(Other posts i have placed do...but not this!).

Fair play to you Flash and i appreciate their will be the odd Posh fan in a similar situation to the one you faced that game. They will however be few and far between.

They will have about 6,000 fans who don't normally go there on saturday (based on their average attendance) anyway without reducing our allocation. On this basis why shouldn't we get more than 500 if we want em?

PS. You're right it doesn't make you a cunt. Apologies if you misinturpreted my post.

Not saying we shouldnt,im saying the we should have been given 500 and moved from that terrace as soon as they knew it was meaningless for us.Not sure where you get your 6000 figure from, many people are regular without going to every single match.

Title: Re: PLEASE HELP !!! Ticket required for saturday's game
Post by: Paolo69 on Friday, May 1, 2009, 10:18:14
6,000 was made up but depends on your definition of "regular" i suppose. You can't get away from the fact that their grounds been too big for em most of the last 20 years and now all of a sudden its too small.

My point is most regulars will have a ticket with very very few exceptions (like those in Flash's case).

It would be a logistical nightmare to move 500 with a weeks notice anyway. I think we had sold approx this amount by last week anyway plus where would they move us to at such short notice. All the home seats have been sold it would appear.

There was the incident with Plymuff last year, but also on the last day of last season some of their "fans" punched & kicked the opposition players as they left the pitch.

After that they got a warning from the FA. Don't know if they got any kind of suspended sentence, but I would guess it's unlikely that they would get a points deduction.

After lengthy discussions in the pub tonight I can confirm that I also don't get the second team thing.

If they played each other in the FA Cup final who would you want to win?

I used to have a vague interest in a second team, but while I did I always cared about Swindon much much more. Now I only follow Town.
