Title: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Nemo on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 06:43:57 Alongside FourFourTwo, not a replacement:
Quote TOWN have agreed a major sponsorship deal with computer games giant EA Sports, the Swindon Advertiser can exclusively reveal. The club have been in discussions with the global gaming company for the last few months and will wear their logo on their shirts from the start of next season. Swindon agreed a three-year deal with football magazine FourFourTwo last June and have now sealed a 12-month contract for an undisclosed sum with EA Sports - whose motto is ‘It’s in the game’ - as the firms work in partnership to support the County Ground outfit. As Town’s contract with current kit suppliers Lotto comes to close the Advertiser understands that next year’s home strip, rumoured to be made by Adidas, will continue to have FourFourTwo’s logo across the chest, with EA Sports adorning the back of it. However, the roles are expected to be reversed on the new away kit, with EA Sports taking prominence and FourFourTwo across the shoulders. EA Sports’ senior UK PR manager, Shaun White, exclusively told the Advertiser: “EA Sports is excited to be working in partnership with FourFourTwo to co-sponsor Swindon Town Football Club. “We both recognise the importance of engaging with clubs from all divisions and we look forward to developing a close relationship with the club, supporters and local community.” Interesting. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 06:47:21 Only good if it shouts "It's in the game" at you when you put in on and has an invisible walls cheat.
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: sheepshagger on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:02:13 Hopefully Adver right about Adidas being the kit manufacturer !!!!
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Bennett on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:02:17 very interesting, considering we've been gash on the pitch there's clearly something going right to get this sort of deal (if correct)

Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:10:44 Ace. This board seem to really know what they're doing when it comes to high profile sponsorship.
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:14:14 Its just a shame they're reducing the playing budget next season...
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: herthab on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:16:12 Its just a shame they're reducing the playing budget next season... They're reducing the size of the squad (Quite rightly) which will obviously see a reduction in the playing budget. They've not said they're reducing the players wages, just the number of players we have. PMA Sippo!!!! Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:22:19 Nick Watkins clearly said that the playing budget will be reduced next season. What that means who knows. Yes the squad will be trimmed, but wants quality over quantity. If we want half decent players then we may need to pay for them and their wages.
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Luci on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:33:09 I wonder if that means discounts on computer games for ST Holders? :D
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Power to people on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:34:43 Nick Watkins clearly said that the playing budget will be reduced next season. What that means who knows. Yes the squad will be trimmed, but wants quality over quantity. If we want half decent players then we may need to pay for them and their wages. I the reason for this is that some of the players that are out of contract are top earners, so getting rid of some of the top earners that are not really playing and bringing in players that are on less will obviously reduce the playing budget, and getting rid of say 10 players and replacing them with 6 players will also reduce the budget. This summer no player will be able to demand top dollar as there will be so many players available that they just won't get offered a deal if their requirment is too much. Bear in mind that this board have inherited (sp ?) a playing budget from the previous regime, and now is their time to clean this up with so many player's out of contract, and pay proper wages and perhaps top it up with bonuses so there is an extra incentive to win etc. I beleive Wilson will have a squad of around 22 players for next season and a majority of them will not be un-tried youngsters, bear in mind our squad size now I beleive is over 30. and of course there is the loan market that can be used as well as we have seen with Greer, Kanu & Jones can havea great influence. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Luci on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:38:21 You just need to look at the back of the Match Day Program to see how ridiculously large our squad is.
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Batch on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:40:19 Nick Watkins clearly said that the playing budget will be reduced next season. What that means who knows. Yes the squad will be trimmed, but wants quality over quantity. If we want half decent players then we may need to pay for them and their wages. Sturrock, Pook, Casal, Nalis, Kanyuka, Corr, Sturrock, Razak, the french sounding bloke who signed with Razak, Peacock . There's ten players you could trim from the squad without effect on the match day 1st team. And the wage budget would be reduced because of it. We'd obviously replace some of them with (hopefully) better replacements, but it's plain to see our squad (and therefor wage bill) is too big. 22 players seems about right, its what Sturrock was aiming for before Best holdings came and fucked it up with the 3 amigos. Four Four Two and EA Sports (it's in the game) - feel like proper sponsors! Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Tails on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 07:40:30 ... Good deal, hopefully we'll see some discounts on EA games! Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: A Gent Orange on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 09:02:25 I'm not massively keen on 'back of shirt' sponsors - especially since EA aren't known for their marketing subtlety and so the logo will probably be bigger than the name - but this is clearly an marketing department punching well above their weight.
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 09:08:30 Michael Pook apparently has been lined up to appear on the front of Fifa 2010.

Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: nochee on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 10:33:31 Do any other teams have sponsors on the back of their shirts?
I didnt realise that it was allowed, is it possible to cover the shirt with F1 style sponsorship with players immediatly putting massively logo'd caps on when coming out from the tunnel? Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 10:43:12 Do any other teams have sponsors on the back of their shirts? I didnt realise that it was allowed, is it possible to cover the shirt with F1 style sponsorship with players immediatly putting massively logo'd caps on when coming out from the tunnel? Pretty sure Sheffield United do and quite a few other teams have them. Some have them on shorts as well I think. I think it'll look horrible and the fans might have to pay extra for a shirt that looks like a shopping bag,I dont buy them anymore anyway so it wont affect me doesnt mean its not a valid questuin. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Power to people on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 12:51:01 I think rear sponsorship looks better when it is across the bottom of the shirt rather than shoulders
Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 12:54:03 I think rear sponsorship looks better when it is across the bottom of the shirt rather than shoulders Agreed, under the number. Lets get some sponsors on the arms aswell. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: pauld on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 12:57:17 Nice one! As a club, we need to maximise all sources of revenue so fair play to the club for:
a) securing an extra sponsor b) Yet again, managing to get such a big name And as for the impact on replica shirts, it's the same as always when the price/design/itchiness of replica shirts comes up every season - if you don't like it, don't buy it Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: dell boy on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 13:02:55 Agree Pauld, great work by the club.
Away colours with EA sports on the front might buy a shirt this year, didn't like last years. Are we playing in blue away from home again next season? I would much prefer us to play in white. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 14:17:16 I still want us to change from red home shirts to one of our previous colours, in order of preference; maroon, red and black, green. Red is so boring, we need something a bit different.
Can anyone confirm if it is Adidas next season? I know someone posted some cryptic clues but I'm thick and didn't get it. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: yeo on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 14:23:27 Nice one! Id have thought you of all people wouldnt be one to accept that clubs are ok to constantly put financial pressures upon their fans with constant new kits and price rises. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 14:25:15 I can't imagine the replica shirt costing more. If it does it will be down to the manufacturers prices, presumably for producing a kit which is higher in quality and gets delivered on time (one hopes!).
As for the sponsorship deal, very high profile and is a testament to the business acumen of the Directors. I've also noticed the advertising boards being filled up around the ground which shows better marketing than the old management team. Title: Re: EA Sports- New Kit Sponsor Post by: yeo on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 14:25:31 Of course a back sponser may actually lower the price of Replica kits or they may stay the same,Im just asking the question.

We'll probably start flying everywhere, even to bristol. In terms of kit design, if we have indeed got addidas i don't think the kit will change from next season to the 10/11 season. The sponsor obviously being different (unless EA don't extend the sponsorship), but i cant see addidas saying "you've changed sponsor, you can have a new kit aswell". the kit will probably be the same, with a slight change to the away kit maybe, but the home should stay the same. Addidas aren't one of those manufacturers which (with lack of another word) force you to have a new kit every season like the previous lotto deals we've had. Good stuff in terms of buisiness accumen of fitton and the board, something is going right within the county ground.
