Thinking of starting to play poker for money, Don't want to spend too much but I am bored of winning all the play for fun tourneys. I normally play on pokerroom but anyone use any other decent sites, preferably full of amateurish gimps who don't know what they are doing!! :soapy tit wank:

Registered real money at pokerroom and won $25 dollers in my first game. Doubled my money already!

Ladbrokes chief, been playing a lot lately and slowly paying off the credit card bill with the proceeds.

If you have been playing a while then you'll probably know this stuff and a lot of it's common sense but I found it very handy:

- Choose your table carefully.  The bigger the stack of chips you have the better the position you will be in.  I usually look for a situation where there are no more than two players with a bigger stack and at least two with fewer.

- Marathon not a sprint.  I used to regularly chuck £20.00 in for the evening then keep playing until I was seriously up or out of cash.  Beauty of online poker it's 24hrs a day so set yourself a target (I usually double my money) then once you hit it cash in your chips and run.

- Patience Kimusabe.  One thing I have found most players online will only play when they have a hand.  Some will bluff but those that do so regularly always get caught out in the end.  Watch the old opponents see what they stake on what combos and make a mental note.  Most players on smaller stake tables can be read like books and when you have a good hand you can take them to the cleaners.  I normally find a few hands of safe betting when you sit down just watching what goes on can work wonders.

-   Vary your play.  To avoid becoming easier to read than a book occasionally play hands that you wouldn’t normally and can afford to lose.  Players that only go after a good hand usually result in a mass folding session when they try and raise the stakes.

Have been playing poker for money for the first time in the last couple of days. Trying pacificpoker.com, was down slightly but after winning $10 real money in one hand, I'm now up a bit. Just playing on the 10 cent or 25 cent tables so I don't lose much.

My mate's a good couple of hundred punds up on 'net casinos.  He's only been doing them a couple of months. :shock:

It's quite addictive, I tried on two different sites so I've spent about £25 on it in 2 days though I could get some back but I'm not good enough to really make a profit yet. Real money is a fair bit harder than play money where I could make a big profit pretty easily.

There's loads of tutorials about but I don't know which one's the best, I think we should have another forum poker game some time (just play money).

I play on truepoker.com but not for real money as I'm not very good at the moment. It's a good site though, and there are plenty of muggins' like me on there to give the sharks their ego boost...   :(

I've got over $50000 of play money on poker room now, if only real money was this easy, slightly down on real money so I've given up until I get really good.

Maybe you should set up a real money forum table.

If enough people agree to join a real money game I will, you have to deposit a minimum of $20 on poker room, I've been playing on pacific poker but I don't think that has private tables.

Otherwise I'll play a play money game if you want but once you've put money in you play in a different bit so I'll have to register again, shouldn't take long though.

I saw a documentary on discovery that said putting real money into internet poker rooms gives you cancer.

That was a long game, just finished and I finished just ahead of yeovil with $8037 to his  $7800 or so after a last gasp $500 win on the very last bet after yeovil had been ahead for an hour, very dramatic finish. :advercool: Started on $5000.

Only play money though. Shame.
