Title: Getting a season ticket
Post by: michael on Sunday, April 12, 2009, 08:50:23
I shall renew mine this week.

I will be staying where I am, in the Don Rogers Stand.

(I will probably buy a Stand Buy Me ticket this week as well)

Have you done yours yet?

Dunno, got to find out if I can do a student one over the phone (as posting doesn't appear to be an option?).

Ill renew mine in June whn I get back from Canada. Going to Canada at end of may so cannot afford to get the cheaper ticket.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get it at the earlier price but on finance Gary?

I may only get a half season ticket anyway depending on finances! I have the chance and will have the cahs to pay off one of my loans in June so I am very tempted to do that....

Where are you going to in Canada Gazza? Went there 5 years ago and loved the place.

Toronto, I used to live over there for a bit... Plus its my birthday so my parents (who still live over there) may either a) give me back some of the airfare that will go towards my season ticket or b) give me the whole balance for my season ticket!

I'm still sitting on the fence. If we go down I'm going to have to think long and hard about renewing, having to pay more for a lower division is asking a bit much. But on the other hand, if we do go down I'm confident we'll get promoted straight away so at least I should get to see them winning a fair few games and playing better football (than the opposition).

But I'm also confident 49 points will be enough, so as soon as we hit that I'll most likely renew straight away.

I read in the program today that if you win 'Stand Buy Me' and have already bought an ST, then you'll get your ST money refunded.

Also an interesting interview with yer man Andrew Fitton.

Well there is quite a lot there, it is spread over 6 or so pages, but most notably he says they have their eyes on 4 or 5 key players to sign next season - I am assuming that he means externals - and that the squad will be smaller, which makes sense.

Some very fair comment about Cox as well: We don't need to sell him to stay afloat, but at the same time if we hang on to him against his will then we'd struggle to attract similar such players who want first team football to showcase their talent.

And at the end he speaks of wanting to add 500 new fans a season, though the sub-text is that they are not neccesarily as season ticket holders.

Actually that wasn't the end, but near it.

At the end he mentions the Bill Power court case, reckons it would cost a combined £1m in legal fees, which is a shame. Not sure if that would be re-payable by the Wills' or not.

I believe there is a get-out for Fitton and co, the Wills' would pick up any such bill (perhaps Diamond Mike will pay it out of petty cash).  He will be hard pushed to add 500 extra fans next season after the crap we have been served up this time round.  Having said that, I think our gates have actually held up very well this season, all things considered.

Went to Vancouver / Rockies. I have a friend who lives in Niagara Falls (Canada) about 80 miles from Toronto? Must visit that area some day.

Back to thread.... I will be buying 2 this week (same seats) whatever division we end up in.  :thumb:

Yeah it should be. See the Bill Power Court case thread

And back on topic, I'll be renewing three season tickets (one an under 7 freebie admittedly) in the next week or so ...

You been watching the Pox this season then?

I'll be renewing mine over the next few weeks.

In regards to what Fitton said about improving by 500 a season. We all know if we are up in the promotion positions next season (hopefully in League One) that is big possibility, especially with the likes of Charlton and Southampton coming down next season.

I'll be renewing this week or next week.

Im not sure what i would do without my season ticket,it's my saviour from being dragged around the shops or being dragged around the relatives on saturday afternoons.I think i prefer watching us get beat than the latter.

7,700 yesterday was a great crowd for a relegation battle. Orient did their bit by bringing a few but the home attendance has been very encouraging. The only disappointing thing is that a crowd of 8,000 used to mean the Town End was packed...not the case any more

I think the Town End will be busier next term - not sure there will be loads and loads of renewals and people will end up paying on the day and going for the cheaper price.

As long as no cheeky sods try and nick my spot it will be all good.

I'm not renewing. I'm taking a sabatical from STFC as i genuinely don't enjoy it any more. I'm sure i'll miss it after a while though but i feel i need a break.

I think so... i don't get the enjoyment out of it that i used to, only away days seem to be worth my effort and i've not even really made it to many of them!

This season was my first as a season ticket holder and it's far easier not hving to worry about getting a ticket. I also get a half decent view where I am in the Town End.

I think we can all relate to LS's comments about not enjoying it. I reckon I'd still end up going if I didn't have a season ticket though, I think it's just the fact I know I hve nothing better to do most of the time.

That said, I have noticed a steady decline in my matchday drinking efforts the shitter we are. The rubbish football and atmosphere does seem to sap the life from you.
