Title: Oasis fans Post by: Doore on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 21:58:15 I am a proud Oasis fan. Not because I'm a "lad" (I'm not) but because I think in the 90s they took on the mantle from the Stone Roses and made British music exciting again. On this, and having recently bought Dig Out Your Soul, I would like to propose a list based debate. List each Oasis studio album (include The Masterplan) in order of preference.
1. Definitely Maybe. 2. (what's the story) Morning Glory? 3. Don't Believe The Truth. 4. The Masterplan 5. Dig Out Your Soul. 6. Heathen Chemisty. 7. Be Here Now 8. Standing On The Shoulder of Giants. I love the top four. Dig Out Your Soul is growing on me. Heathen Chemistry is a good listen as an indication of a band returning to form. Be Here Now would be good if each song was half as long. SOTSOG, apart from 3 songs (Fuckin in the Bushes, Gas Panic and Go Let it Out) is toss bollocks. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: chalkies_shorts on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 22:22:43 Cigarettes and Alcohol is an absolte classic but they've also produced some real shite and the albums tend to be brilliant to start with and then get worse over time.
Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: Nemo on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 22:24:16 1. What's the Story Morning Glory
2. Heathen Chemistry 3. Definately Maybe 4. The Masterplan 5. Dig Out Your Soul 6. Be Here Now 7. Don't Believe The Truth 8. Standing on the Shoulders of Giants I really like Heathen Chemistry, never understood why it got such a bad reception all round. Standing on the Shoulders is toss and Be Here Now too elongated as aforementioned though. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: Doore on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 22:31:56 1. You give reasons for the other two in the bottom three but not DBTT. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: Spy on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 08:03:51 An interesting idea for a thread. I'm not really a proper oasis fan and don't really know most of those albums so can't really do my own list.

I haven't really listened to it a great deal to be fair, but it's there aren't many tracks that stand out on it. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: Melksham Red on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 08:26:33 1) Definately Maybe
2) Morning Glory 3) Masterplan 4) Be Here now As for the rest, they're all pretty much the same. Each album has one or two great anthems and the rest just dross. Still love them mind and can't wait for Wembley in July. I've not seen Oasis live for a few years now. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: overthehill on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 08:28:31 Oasis are shit

2. (what's the story) Morning Glory? I stopped there. Not sure why, just found their third album a bit dull so didn't buy it. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 09:50:50 The best three are definitely Maybe, what's the story and be here now. All the rest is mainly bad, latest album has one or two decent songs.
Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: Colin Todd on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 09:52:20 I find it amazing that a band who where good enough to release a b sides albulm thats better than most bands will ever muster as a proper release have managed to release so much crap since.
The importance of being idle is the best song they've done for years. Not that there is really much competition for that. Title: Re: Oasis fans Post by: land_of_bo on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 13:52:27 They are in risk of becoming their own tribute band...

Definitely Maybe 2. Whats The Story Morning Glory 3. The Mastplan 4. Dont Believe The Truth 5. Be Here Now 6. Standing On The Shoulders of Giants 7. Dig Out Your Soul (although I must admit I havent played it much) 8. Heathen Chemistry of course Familiar to Millions is probably the best listen of the lot...
