15 years ago today I moved to Sussex then. Remember reading about it in the local paper down here that day.

Think of all those 15 year old sitting about listening to Nevermind. It won't be long until they start claiming one of the other albums is better as the music  pretentiousness of the later teens hits. But 15 is a good age to enjoy a decent pop album, even if it painted in a thin layer of grime. Like peas hidden in mash potato.

Ahh.. These kids will soon have never shared a day on earth with their hero. Meh. Lot's of people have dead heroes, or even heroes that never existed anyway. Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I reckon Courtney did it.

There is absolutely no way he could have reached the trigger to pull it.

Pat Smear in the live band at this point. Also went on to be a member of the Foo Fighters, for the first two albums at least.

I often wonder where Nirvana would have gone had he not perished. The Steve Albini-produced In Utero was a clear (and unsuccessful) attempt to move away from the mainstream.

Incidentally here is an interesting and thought-provoking article written by Albini himself: http://www.negativland.com/albini.html

Terrific songwriter - from what I know he wanted to be different but couldn't resist his natural inclination to write brilliant pop hooks.  Hence In Utero.  Its an album filled with great moments and awful shite.  He was also quite clearly, if you listen to Nevermind (great album) a Beatles fan.  Nevermind, like Rubber Soul, is an A to Z of how to write a pop classic.
