Title: Laptop question Post by: juddie on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 13:20:46 So I went on my laptop last night to update my iPod and when I went to play a track, it said I had no audio output device installed. I don't recall uninstalling my speakers?! I went to the sound bit and there were no devices listed?
Could anybody who knows anything about PC's shed any light on my predicament? could it be my sound card? Title: Re: Laptop question Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 14:07:50 It sounds like the driver for your soundcard has fudged up. Are you running XP?
right click on my computer>properties>hardware>device manager Then click on the top icon of the device tree (it will be the name of your computer). From there you can select 'scan hardware changes' from the 'actions' menu. Hopefully XP will look for the driver and find it. If not you will need to go to the manufacturers website and download the sound card driver from the support section. Title: Re: Laptop question Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 14:39:28 Only that there's a quicker way to open device manager which would have saved me typing all of that.
Go to start put this: devmgmt.msc in the search box and hit enter. The steps once device manager is open should be the same. Title: Re: Laptop question Post by: juddie on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 14:45:41 I'll give it a go. ta much :D
