Title: Wilson Has Left the Building
Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, March 29, 2009, 13:54:24

After Wilson departed, BBC R.S. apparently had to track down Byrne for an interview, during which he didn't have much to say.

What is going on?

I don't think you've covered all the possible reasons.

I think he was embarrassed by the L&P effort and thought the fans didn't deserve an interview.

Or maybe he was desperate for a huge fuck off shit.

Maybe Ed had threatened to rape him, and so he was scared to meet him for the interview.

Can you add these options to the poll please?

He was going mental on the touchline at times, and who can blame him. I have no idea where he went, strange that he would just disappear like that

What are we basing this report of the "Dissapear". Was it just BBC RS couldn't find him. Could it not just be that he was in the changing rooms kicking the shit out of the players?

I wouldnt slag him off for not doing an interview. To be frank, media people are full of their own self importance and they are probably pissed off at RS, but he doesnt have to do one.

Little concerned that RS reported he left in a taxi, rather than getting on the team bus?? But this could well be bollocks.

Ok, can someone relay what was reported then for those of us that missed it.

Someone in the crowd shouted "taxi for Wilson" and one dully appeared.

They were waiting for an interview. There was a big pause, then Hadwin said that Wilson had left the ground, and was reported to have left in a taxi.

Have you ever been to Huish Park Nev?  Is there a less interesting ground in the country?

The only note of interest...the plastic flowers in the bog...and even they were nicked by Nobby.

Won't let me add new options, a new poll could be started.

I should have included:

Not wanting to explain why the left back was playing on the left wing, with the right back was playing at left back, with the right back could have been playing in a customary midfield position so that the right winger could play on the right instead of the left as long as the left back was not playing on the wing and the right back wasn't playing at left back.

Don't think I've got it right though.

I can add options but I can't really be bothered. Good bit of discussion, but don't think it's a question which polls well, the possibilities aren't really discrete enough,  could realistically be a combination of a few things.

I've decided that he probably just wanted to get home. Maybe he was tired or something, and was just desperate to escape the boring worries of football and veg out in front of the telly with a glass of wine. Fair play to him if he did.

As we don't know the reason why he didn't come out, it's a bit presumptious to call it unprofessional.

Oh do fuck off, no shock that you practically dissapeared on the 3 match winning streak then one defeat and your back on Wilsons back.

Personally I don't give a shit if its unprofessional, I would say the players performance was very unprofessional so if Wilson was like any of us he probably left very angry and I can relate to him just having a gut instinct just to storm out.

Reactions like this will get more reaction from the players than coming out and brave facing it saying the same old cliches.  Wilson will have them motivated for Saturday for sure and he will have the ability to keep us up.

If I was Wilson, I probably would have gone sharpish too, to ensure I didn't say something I might regret - especially to the press!  He probably just wanted a cooling period.

I think this whole thing as been blown massively out of proportion.

The players don't need someone to shout at them to tell them they've dropped a bollock. Byrne's probably done plenty of that anyway. I would be worried if Wilson didn't go into training today and tell the players exactly what he thought and how they're going to start to rectify it though.

As for RS interviews, what does it matter if Byrne gives the interview? It always turns out as the same cliched pap anyway.

It is in RS's contract that they get access to the manager after the game though for a post match interview....

Manager or management?  Fact remains nobody know what happened, if anything at all. So you can't really call it unprofessional.

I do agree with your sentiment DRS but if it was for family reasons I would have expected someone at the club to say so, not explain the details but just to put a reason for his sudden departure.  I think it's a bit off that he's just walked out on the team, without any explanation (to the fans), nothing to get too bothered about it, but wouldn't like to see a repeat.

I have the greatest respect for D.W.  He doesn't owe anyone an explanation.

I suspect after the Northampton game the assistants didn't get the job done.  I cannot believe that if D.W. had thoroughly prepared this team for that game they they wouldn't have been up for it.

Statements like this really piss me off, even if your fishing. Why doesnt anyone that travelled to an away game, spent a fair bit of money on seeing that dross deserved to be acknowledged? I didnt really have the money to go on sat but thought id go and 'acknowledge' my team and show them support...ok the atmosphere may not have been great but with little being created it was hard to get much going added in the open terracing with the sound lost.

But dont say people that pay good money to go and watch each saturday dont 'deserve' recognition.

I think he most certainly was fishing.

But Swindon fans should get out of the mentality that they should get applauded for turning up. You pay your money, you see a game of football. If we want recognition we need to earn it by supporting the team properly and getting behind the players, intimidating the refs and so on.

Thats not to say the players have deserved that level of support either. But at the end of the day its our club.

Good post Spencer. I also don't like this 'open terrace' argument. It's a theory which is more bollocks than a Bushey Boy lost bet photo. The majority of fans didn't even try. It was just like Boxing Day, except it seemed worse somehow because we were on the back of a three game winning streak.
