Colley's in Lechlade is meant to be nice (never been there myself) but i think it may be pricey.

The riverside in lechlade is ok, the lasagne is quite nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Lechlade though, there's nothing there. I think jaflong is the best restaurant in Lechlade but I wouldn't go there for lunch.

lechlade is just down the road for me.

what about swindon itself?

Oh and the Trout is pretty good if you just want better than average pub food.

In Swindon, pretty much all the Italians are good, and although it's a chain, i quite like Bottelino's at the moment.

Bottelinos is mega cheap at lunch time and fucking expensive in the evenings.

i should have stipulated no italian, i've had it three times this week already...

Colleys is dreadful. My parents had some faint memory of it being okay in 1985 and dragged me there last year for a Sunday lunch. The menu is cetainly designed for the clientel - gimmer food. Mostly over cooked roast dinners and soft veg. The decor clearly hasn't changed or been cleaned in a decade.

So I didnt like it.

You have to be careful with Colley's. You have a free run at a buffet full of starters that you invariably pig yourself on which leaves you pretty full by the time it comes to a main course.

I don't like it, it is very contrived and very 80's.

Oh and my fucking horrible snobby ex-mother in law used to love the place 'let's go for supper', so for that reason alone I loathe it.

McDonalds or a kebab and if she don't like it then she's probably not the one.

Colleys didn't do the mega buffet starter last time I went there

the trout was full(!) so ended up at the rose revived in newbridge which is pretty decent.

The Rose Revived is ace and if I remember rightly, there is another pub opposite but can't remember the name.
