Title: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: herthab on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:10:34 With OTJ away with Wales and Peacock, Easton, Kanuyka and JPM ruled out through injury, the only 2 centre midfielders we have (Barring Pook, who DW obviously thinks is pants) that could team up with Timlin are Allen and Nalis.
One is slow and not known for his defensive ability, the other is small, lightweight and not known for his defensive ability. Houston, we have a problem.......... Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Batch on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:16:58 I think it'll be Nalis, and it definitely will be a problem.
I thought Easton was back in training? Nothing to suggest he'd get the nod mind. Do you know when OTJ's loan ends. As this problem could resurface again. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: stfctownenda on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:30:57 Not the best of choices would have to go with Nalis just as he is a bigger presence in there and when we have played Allen and Timlin its the worst we have looked.
On the adver site it says Easton is back but not match fit, could be worth gambling with him and see how many minutes we get out of him before replacing him with Nalis with 30 mins to go. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: newmarket red on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:31:54 Even more of a problem if tudor jones suffers an injury on international duty we want be able to sign a replacement as the window has shut.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Luci on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:38:17 Nalis for sure!
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:42:08 A big game for Nalis this one.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Peter Venkman on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:47:58 No choice really gotta be Nalis....unless we get in a loanee today?
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: fatbury on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:53:18 Give Pook a chance DW .. you wont regret it :)
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:54:21 Razak should play in midfield
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: stfctownenda on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:56:55 Give Pook a chance DW .. you wont regret it :) Face it fatters Pook has a 1 way ticket to non league at the end of this season. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: wheretherealredsare on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:58:20 But he could go out in a blaze of glory ....
... possibly? Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Anteater on Friday, March 27, 2009, 08:58:56 If Vincent is OK then either Amankwah or Kanyuka I reckon.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Spy on Friday, March 27, 2009, 09:03:48 Razak should play in midfield Really? Why? Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: flammableBen on Friday, March 27, 2009, 09:04:56 Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, March 27, 2009, 09:12:57 Jack Smith? It's been touted before.
Otherwise I'd start Nalis and bring Easton on for the last 20 minutes when Nalis' legs have gone. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Berniman on Friday, March 27, 2009, 09:15:11 Kanyuka is injured, Easton is not match fit and JPM is not injured anymore according to OS.
It will be Nalis though which is a worry, maybe for an hour and then bring Easton on. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: glos_robin on Friday, March 27, 2009, 10:37:21 I reckon we'll be alright. Nalis played against MK and we completely dominated the game including the centre of the park so I don't think him playing is that much of a worry or gamble compared to playing the likes of Pook, Allen or even Jack Smith in there.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: REDBUCK on Friday, March 27, 2009, 10:53:19 we will soon find out how much a difference QTJ has made
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: DV on Friday, March 27, 2009, 10:57:13 Nalis performed well in his last game against Franchise.
No doubt it will be him, fingers crossed he pulls out another Franchise performance. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Spy on Friday, March 27, 2009, 10:58:34 Because he's my favourite player. I assume you're having a laugh and just like his name or something. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Nemo on Friday, March 27, 2009, 10:59:37 I assume you're having a laugh and just like his name or something. He's absolutely mental, what's not to like? Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Spy on Friday, March 27, 2009, 11:08:12 He was brought on as a sub and was going wrecklessly into tackles and lucky not to get sent off? I remember hearing about that I think? Is that what you're referring to?

I remember hearing about that I think? Is that what you're referring to? I think you're taking tongue-in-cheek posts far too seriously my good fellowTitle: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: juddie on Friday, March 27, 2009, 11:48:09 Could be under the cosh it Nalis does play, I think he's truly awful. Just hasn't got the legs.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Bogus Dave on Friday, March 27, 2009, 11:52:50 Nalis is a lot like whalley. Whalleys best game in a swindon shirt was at yeovil. Therefore its an indisputable fact that nalis should start
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: jonny72 on Friday, March 27, 2009, 13:11:05 I wouldn't play Nalis or Allen.
I'd play Marshall on the wing and move Kanu in to the middle, or put him upfront with Paynter drop Cox in to midfield. Either option would be better than Nalis or Allen, in fact any option would be. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Colin Todd on Friday, March 27, 2009, 13:22:22 Great idea Jonny. put our 27 goal striker into midfield.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, March 27, 2009, 13:30:21 Also johny,Kanu is not our player he is here to learn his trade and develope as a winger. Who are we to start changing his position?
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: nochee on Friday, March 27, 2009, 13:30:39 I think there should be a midfield lottery. Pick season ticket from a hat and whoever owns it gets to play midfield.
Its as good a chance as we have. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Tails on Friday, March 27, 2009, 13:52:44 Could be under the cosh it Nalis does play, I think he's truly awful. Just hasn't got the legs. Everyone moaned before Franchise and he did a decent job. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: STFC4LIFE on Friday, March 27, 2009, 13:59:47 Stick Ifil in there.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, March 27, 2009, 14:08:17 Malpas could do a job.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Friday, March 27, 2009, 14:49:35 Alan Reeves did a great job at the Robbo testimonial?
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Power to people on Friday, March 27, 2009, 15:40:06 Everyone moaned before Franchise and he did a decent job. Exatly, I think Nalis can do a job in there for a game he done fine against Franchise, he's not quite past it yet. Previously when he has started game and looked poor everyone looked poor so now in a team with a bit of confidence and on an 3 game unbeaten run he can cover for a game. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: janaage on Friday, March 27, 2009, 15:41:13 i think Nalis will start, although you never know with DW.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, March 27, 2009, 16:24:07 I keep reading this thread title and thinking it says "Saturday Midfield Parking".
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: jonny72 on Friday, March 27, 2009, 16:33:30 Great idea Jonny. put our 27 goal striker into midfield. Why's that so stupid? He has been playing deeper and deeper all season and in some games looks like he is playing in an attacking midfielder role, a la Gerrard. I reckon he could handle it, he could still push forward and will cause other problems for their defence when he makes a run from deep. Also johny,Kanu is not our player he is here to learn his trade and develope as a winger. Who are we to start changing his position? What is the problem with playing him out of position in one game? It might work, it might not. I can't see Reading having a problem with it and every player has to play out of position every so often. As I said before, anything will be better than Nalis or Allen. I'd prefer playing someone out of position or changing the formation, even to the extent of playing Ifil and having three at the centre or having Greer or Morrison play as a holding midfielder in front of the defence. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Colin Todd on Friday, March 27, 2009, 16:39:00 Against MK Cox did play the Gerrard role i.e. second striker, but thats very different to playing centre mid in a 4-4-2.
Our recent upturn in form has been based around a much more solid central midfield which allows Macca and HRK to get away with being crap at defending at times. I wouldnt do anthing to change that even if it does mean playing Nalis (who i think is crap) but he did alright v MK. Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: Westwood on Friday, March 27, 2009, 21:13:10 Nalis will start and Pook is on the bench.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: stfc11 on Friday, March 27, 2009, 22:23:24 Hasn't Easton started training again? Might stick him in.
Title: Re: Saturday Midfield Pairing. Post by: michael on Saturday, March 28, 2009, 00:16:24 Could we extend OTJ's loan period after the loan deadline?
Cos I think it's just passed, and we haven't extended it yet. |
