Bit of a non-story this (but it's on the BBC site), David Jason has caused a little storm (well no compliants were received - but Absolute Radio have edited the joke out of it's podcast) and I don't really see the problem, David Jason has since apologised.  Apparently on the Christian O'Connell breakfast show he told the following (old) joke...

"What do you call a Pakistani clock room attendant?"

"Me-hat Me-coat"

Apparently the offence taken was not related to the unfunny nature of the joke but down to racism.  I know we've had similar discussions on this issue but is that racist?

The offence should be more to do with the fact he told a 30 year old joke, and a crap one at that.

David Jason should be put down.

Not sure what the problem with the joke is, just the PC crowd running amok as usual.

Mildly amusing and not "racist"

Paddy and Abdul were beggers at Waterloo Station.

Paddy had a few coppers and silvers sat in his begging bowl and he looks over at Abdul and see's his bowl overflowing with ten and twenty pound notes.

After a while Paddy goes over to Abdul "how do you make so much money", he asks.

Abdul replies "your sign says unemployed, mortgage and six kids to support"  He picks up his sign Paddy reads it out loud "Only £10 more and I can get back to Pakistan"

I heard today that the company who produce Cluedo have introduced the first black character into the game.

Having said that, I still haven'y worked out who was offended, unless people are referring to Ghandi, but he's fucking dead.

I know you were addressing Ironside, but I have just noticed I too used the word racist inside " ".  Not because I was doubting racisms existence, more so because I was questioning whether the joke was in fact racist.

Just thought I'd clear that up!
