Title: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 10:45:33 With an eye on next season, what players realistically would you want to sign.
I would like Owain Fon Williams from Stockport. They are in the shit financially so think he would be a good number one for us replacing Smith/Brezovan,. Gordon Greer and Owain Tudor-Jones to stay as well.... Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: juddie on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:07:20 I think OTJ will feel he has a future at Swansea.
Greer yes, Williams I also agree with, but if we looking at plundering Stockport I'd love us to get Pilkington... If we sell Cox we could be looking at a different market. Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: Colin Todd on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:10:28 I want Reading to go up, as it will increase the chances of us getting Robson Kanu on a season long loan. I dont think thats particually realistic though sadly, either way I think he will be playing in the championship next season, either for reading or someone they have loaned him to.
Other than the ones already here its a bit difficult to know who is available at our level and for the most part if they are any good or not unless we are talking spending big money Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:11:55 I want all our players to have double barreled surnames - makes us sound well posh innit?

Staiyng in L1 next season will limit his progress. Lower league Championship side I think next season I think especially as he is knocking on the door of the England side so.... Craig Mckail-Smith would be a decent double barrelled surname player to sign. Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:27:30 Craig Mckail-Smith would be a decent double barrelled surname player to sign. He has his own personal trainer as well! Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:29:12 Have we not forgotten the disaster that was Charlie Comyn-Platt?
I suppose we could tempt Eric Djemba-Djemba here, or get Chris Bart-Williams out of retirement? Or maybe my favourite Guylian Ndungu-Ndsungu (sp.) Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: juddie on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:29:53 there are some good players to be had on loan, as proved this year. If Ipswich can get dos santos, and QPR taraabt, then we could get some decent Championship players.

Meanwhile, former Town youngster Charlie Comyn-Platt is heading Down Under at the end of the month to join Australian side ECU Joondalup. The defender is currently plying his trade in the Blue Square South for Weston-super-Mare, managed by ex-Swindon star Andy Gurney, and flies to perth to begin the new chapter in his career on Monday (March 30). Comyn-Platt made 29 appearances, scoring two goals, for Town in between 2005 and 2007, and he will line up for new side Joondalup in the second tier of the Australian game - the Football West State League Premier Division. Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 16:18:09 The chances are that we won't have heard of or know much about most of the players Wilson brings in. But I have confidence in him, he saw a need for a few players and brought in some excellent players on loan which have played a major part in the recent turn around.
A lot will depend on how much of the shit we can clear out, as we already have too many players, and making sure we get the decent players to sign new contracts. Who is out of contract in the summer? Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 16:41:43 A lot depends on whether we're in Div 3 or Div 4 and who the manager is.
Until that's sorted one way or another, there's little point in thinking about it. Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 17:27:02 we'll be in div 3 and out manager will be DW.
you heared it here first Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: michael on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 18:52:39 Beyond the current loanees...
David Noble has just signed on loan for Yeovil until the end of the season. His City career is as good as over. Could be a very good signing for anyone in League 1 this summer. Coventry back-up 'keeper Dimi Constontopolous would be a good one too. Antony Sweeney or Joel Porter at Hartlepool would be worth a look as well. Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: bigbobjoylove on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 22:30:42 Whose the big lad at Hartlepool that everyone has mentioned for years? Nelson is it?
Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Thursday, March 26, 2009, 12:01:00 Watched the highlights of the Crewe match, they've got an Icelandic lad on loan from Reading, put in a MOTM performance in centre mid, looked big and emposing - Gylfi Eyjolfsson maybe? Anyway. Think he'd be a decent shout for loan, perhaps.

Title: Re: Realistic Players Available to Sign in the Summer? Post by: Kinky Tom on Thursday, March 26, 2009, 12:43:27 i think we'll be in a good position for next season of we stay up.
if we sell cox then we'll have cash to spend, if he signs a new contract and stays then players will want to play with him - with a good defense his goals would surely put us up near the play-offs, which players would want to be a part of. as mentioned elsewhere we're much more stable than most clubs in L1 now also which will be a plus. also do not underestimate the lure of danny wilson, his style of football is the style players want to play. hopefully we'll be in for a promising season next time round, a lot of dead wood to rid ourselves of though...
