Looking forward to seeing the highlights The second one was a brilliant finish one on one with the keeper and a lovely lob on the half volley, he took his other 2 well as well. Him and Paynter were excellent tonight, both caused them problems all the time. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 00:57:42 Yes, by one.
Parkins best was 26. Cox has 27. Parkin and Mooney managed 43 goals. Cox & Paynter have 38. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: michael on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 01:00:10 Serious congratulations are in order for Simon Cox then.
Well done. Don't go... :( Title: Re: top scorer Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 01:01:14 In my opinion Billy P deserves alot of credit to.
He's Heskey to Cox's Owen! Title: Re: top scorer Post by: santasdead on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 01:07:20 Reading the OS paynter 2 assists and 1 goal, coxy 1 assist and 3 goals - mcnamee with the other assist.
that is what we need, attackers that are setting each other up,helping each others confidence..would like to see cox hit 30. A-cause he's young and 30 in his first full season at a club playing first team is going to get him noticed and B-we can get a few £'s for him. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Luci on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 06:49:30 how many backed him and at what prices? i didn't myself £10 e/w (20 total) at 50/1 Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Luci on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 06:54:53 On another note I hope to god the board are willing to spend a bit next year to replace him.
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Nemo on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:02:29 22/1 but not each way, only on being top. I'm guessing it pays out if he finishes joint top, but I'm not sure.
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:07:12 ok im a spastic, but i put £20 bet (£10 e/w) at 40-1 if he comes top what do i get, and its top 4 finish so what would i get for 2nd 3rd or 4th?
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Batch on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:08:22 Can you dig out that thread where a whole load of people said he was plop because he didn't score in his first league game here? If you read the thread it says he shouldn't start gobbing off giving it the "got to pick me" large one after just one average game. Hope that clears up your misunderstanding ;) Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Luci on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:37:56 ok im a spastic, but i put £20 bet (£10 e/w) at 40-1 if he comes top what do i get, and its top 4 finish so what would i get for 2nd 3rd or 4th? Finishes in top 4 = £10 @ 12.5/1 (quarter odds) = £125 Finishes top = (£10 @ 40/1) + (£10 @ 12.5/1) = £525 Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Luci on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:47:06 Can you do that for 50/1 too? Sorry im rubbish at this stuff!
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:47:43 cheers for that, thats fucking lush.
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Batch on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 08:58:22 Can you do that for 50/1 too? Sorry im rubbish at this stuff! Finishes in top 4 = £10 @ 12.5/1 (quarter odds) = £125 Finishes top = (£10 @ 50/1) + (£10 @ 12.5/1) = £625 and you get the £10 or £20 back respectively. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Luci on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 09:09:48 Finishes in top 4 = £10 @ 12.5/1 (quarter odds) = £125 Finishes top = (£10 @ 50/1) + (£10 @ 12.5/1) = £625 and you get the £10 or £20 back respectively. Thank you, woop! Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Phil_S on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 10:47:49 On another note I hope to god the board are willing to spend a bit next year to replace him. I'm not so sure we will sell tho'. How often do you find a 25+ goal as season striker. That's ussually the basis for a good run at the playoffs given a decent defence. If we were to sell, you lose that. Even spending the money on the squad won't guarantee those goals are replaced. So barring silly offers (3-4 mill ion plus ) I'd keep him. I don't think his value will decrease at all (barring injury), so it's not a grab it while yoiu can senario. I trust the board are astute enough to realise this. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Luci on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 10:50:12 We won't want to sell but we might have to consider it if a big enough offer is tabled and Im pretty sure Cox will want to go onto bigger and better things...
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: RobertT on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 10:57:41 Given the sheer number of scouts now attending our games I think we can safely assume Cox will not be here for the start of next season. Seems the clubs on the whole are Championship ones with a budget or lower Prem level teams willing to take a punt on someone who could turn out to be great, may not - in a sort of Nugent way. Certainly heard 7 figure sums now being used in discussion as not being off puting.
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: normy on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:12:15 My hope is that he will want to stay until we get in to the Championship, and the Board supports this. If he goes, it will show lack of ambition by the Club, and scoring strikers are very hard to find. Que sera etc.
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Batch on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:38:55 My hope is that he will want to stay until we get in to the Championship, and the Board supports this. If he goes, it will show lack of ambition by the Club, and scoring strikers are very hard to find. Que sera etc. I think it's an unrealistic view, to think we can keep him. Either "stupid" money will be bid, and make no mistake everybody has a price. Or Cox will want to leave. If he did want to stay I'd assume he'd have to sign a new contract if merely to protect us from his contract expiring. Can we even afford to pay the wage he is now worth?! Title: Re: top scorer Post by: DV on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:44:36 What Batch said, he'd have to do a Parkin and sign a new contract so he's got an extra year if we want to keep him beyond the end of the season.
I assume if the worst came to worse at the end of the season he let his contract run down we'd still get some compo if we offered him a new contract because he'll be under 24. So we'd get what someone classes as a fair price for 3 years training and 50 odd goals. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Colin Todd on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:45:16 We either need to sell him in the summer or get him to sign a new deal.
No point in keeping him til Jan, the goals he scores in the 1st half of the season wouldnt be enough to guarantee us doing anything and we'd end up getting a shit fee. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Colin Todd on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:48:58 So we'd get what someone classes as a fair price for 3 years training and 50 odd goals. about 30p then. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Sussex on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 11:51:15 how many backed him and at what prices? i didn't myself Think I bet £3 at 33/1. I know it returns £99 though. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Lumps on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 12:02:31 Samdy how is it you've made 1/4 odds of Mex's 40/1 price as 12.5/1?
I thought you were supposed to be good with numbers? Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 12:05:51 Samdy how is it you've made 1/4 odds of Mex's 40/1 price as 12.5/1? I thought you were supposed to be good with numbers? I did realise that after I posted it  but didn't correct myself and hoped nobody would notice my stupidity. Samdy Gray by name, Sandy Gray by nature. Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Barry Scott on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 13:09:31 I got Cox at about 25/1, Lambert at 54/1, and also have Beckford, McKail-Smith, and a few others at shitish odds. I want Lambert to finish top, because i only care about the moeny.
Title: Re: top scorer Post by: Spy on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 14:15:08 I really wanted to put on cox top goal scorer at the start of the season but was totally skint at the time. Should have tried harder to find a way maybe, if only a couple quid.
