OK, i have a problem! I have an interview tomorrow at a shop i worked at for Christmas. I really enjoyed it there, only problem is the interview is for a weekend job, meaning i would have to miss Swindon matches and i have a season ticket, and haven't missed a home match for 5+ years, if after the interview they still want me, but say they'll only have me if i do Saturdays, do i take the job and miss football, or say thanks but no thanks and say when people leave for Uni in June i'd be up for the week day job instead? Would declining the weekend job hamper my prospect in the future or would they just understand? And my other dilemma is, i have no job, so i should take anything i can get really? Or decline and hope i get a week day job somewhere else? This isn't written out very well but i hope you get my drift. Bottom line is, i can't imagine missing a home match (am i really sad?! :-[) but i would really like the chance to go back and work there plus the fact that i'd be earning money! I feel the need for some wise townend help!

And I'm not sure if this is a typo, but uni term times tend to be similarish to school ones, so people tend to leave for uni septermberish (often late sept).

I very much doubt if you turn them down now they'd look to help you out in the summer.

I guess they've decided to move to wherever they're going early or something then. I'm honestly not making it up about uni term times - I suppose they could be doing a different type of course.

Take the job.Sure its a bit of a gutter not getting to the games [as i know myself].But you could end up regretting it big time if you don't take it.

Prior to October this season i'd been to most home games since 1995/96,so i know what a wretch it is  :cry: But i enjoy doing the job and i'm sure you'd be in the same boat.

Follow your heart man, if it feels right go for it, if not don't!  Life's too short to miss out on things, money will take care of itself.

If you're happy enough not working and prefer football to money then fuck it off something else will come along..

I'm agreeing with Yeovil and Jan! I loved the people there but not so much the job, i could visit the people and wait for the job that i know i can get next month when i pass my driving test! And i mean they must understand prior commitments with football, and would still be happy to offer me the job in June if i wanted it because i'd be all trained up right?!

take it - probably won't be too hard to worm your way from weekend shifts to mid-week once you're in.

I wouldn't rely on there being a job for you in June. They might get other people who apply who say they're willing to work weekends during the football season.

That's a good point. But the weekday staff only have to work one day in the weekend, and they were happy enough with me doing Sunday's when i was there over Christmas. And if they don't offer it to me in June, then maybe it wasn't meant to be?! The thing is, if it ended up just being weekends as soon as i found a weekday job i'd leave it anyway, so is it worth it?!

Turn the  job down! (Unless they offer it to you not working Saturdays of course).

Surely just ask them if you can not work Saturday's and whether you can have the midweek job when it is available, if they say yes take it,, if not then don't.

Any talent working there, should be a consideration.

Take it and try and delay your start date? If they are interviewing they may havea few weeks of interviewing left.... or try and work your hours around the football? Do like 8-2 on a Saturday or something?

One this Saturday, which you should make so that leaves three, then just do a bit of shift swapping for the final three home games.

I had hardly missed a home game since I had been going untill this season, I decided to play football instead.
I don't regret it at all.

One of the games is Easter Monday as well

Went for the interview and they said if i get the job i can just do Sunday's and if they need an extra Saturday person they'll ask in advance and see if Swindon are at home or not! So it should all work out ok, thanks for the advice everyone.
