Title: Northampton away
Post by: janaage on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, 11:38:32
Just wondering what time people are leaving for Northampton next week?

Me and a few mates are planning on going up, subject to Saturday's level of performance, but can't take much time off work.

Multimap says 1hr 59 mins, is the ground easy to get to/near the centre?

Piece of piss to get to, although the gravel car park is a nightmare to get out of. Ground is on the outskirts. Takes just over an hour from swindon.

I always drive up the hill, there's another car park at the top which is emptier.

Piss easy. A420, A34 Northbound, M40 Northbound for one junction, then A43 into Northampton (past Brackley and Silverstone). All dual carriageway once you reach the A34.

As you reach Northampton, you go under the M1, straight on at the next roundabout and the ground is right in front of you.

Factor traffic in as the A34 up to the M40 can often be a nightmare in rush hour. 2 hours should be plenty (a good run should be < 90 minutes easily)

It's all down to the Hereford game for us, a decent performance and I'll be there, a Hartlepool/Cheltenham shower of sh, and I'll give it a miss.

Not sure if I'm going or not. If I can get hold of my Mum's car and some people to go with me I expect I'll be there!

Got our tickets this afternoon.

FWIW, it took just over an hour from Swindon tonight, to get to the roundabout just before sixfields.

I'm guessing it will take a bit longer on a Tuesday night.

Would love to have gone to this but  I've already booked two half days one on the Wednesday and One of the Friday so I won't be able to get the time off to go which kinda sucks as I can't go to Yeovil on Saturday either :(

you should be able to get there in time for kick-off if you finish work at 5? can't imagine it'd take more than 2 hours.

my first away game since warsaw before xmas, i'm quite excited :-)

Should be able to make it in 2 hours. The A34 can be a bit of a mare tho, especially at rush hour times.

TGI fridays by the ground.

It's strange that there was a sizeable gathering of TEFers in there for the game last season....because it seems like ages ago.  I suppose it's what happens when a game is at the beginning of one season and the end of the next.

 Stonking hot day then.

It was indeed baking that day, over 18 months ago that. Hopefully we can pick up at least a point again.

A lot has changed in that time, both at the club and for various TEFers.

I predict that c.500 Swindon fans make the journey north.

We at least have to beat the 360 that they brought here.

Were there Swindon fans then and how are they travelling 1500 years forward in time?
