Title: One Day Series (With added 20/20)
Post by: Nemo on Sunday, March 15, 2009, 20:28:25
The one and only 20/20 match is about 3/4 of the way through and I'm reminded why Test Cricket is immeasurably better. Steve Davies topscored for us with 27 or so, Gareth sodding Batty is in the team.

A few thoughts:

- Why isn't Napier in our 20/20 team
- Amjad Khan? In 20/20? The guy is a free hit fest waiting to happen.
- I really don't care about this stuff at all, which is a shame as Cricket seems to be going that way.

The England selectors/backroom staff, really seem to have no idea, what to do with 20/20.

Mind you it doesn't help when the home town ump gives your star batsman the finger, when he backs away showing all three and is hit 6 inches outside the line. :)

I'll be honest, I only switched it on 5 minutes ago as I forgot it was on, I'm guessing this was Pietersen?

Yep...TBF to Norman Malcolm...he didn't give Colly, when he was hit plum, half way up middle.

our t20 record is pretty embarrassing. fortunately (and quite rightly) i don't think anyone is terribly interested in it as a competition...

Shah and Bopara are at the wicket. Odds on the next wicket being a run out anyone?

Harmison goes for 26 off an over and then drops a dolly which goes for four. Poor chap isn't having the best of days.

Oh what the fuck? It's just getting to be a really tense ending and they've called it for bad light? Cricket does enjoy shooting itself in the foot.

Second game, we're unchanged so Harmison gets away with bowling a 25 run over.

Baker in for the truly rubbish Powell for Windies.

117 all out. Disgrace England. 5 or 6 players out to pull or hooks shots.

TMS inbox:  "The partnership between Mascarenhas and Extras looks quite promising. We should move Extras higher up the batting order."

Just learnt that the big man took a Michelle, and a hat-trick to boot.

Fred gets into the team purely on the strength of his bowling.

But when he hits it, it stays hit.

I'd warrant that after the Ashes he'll retire from Test cricket and concentrate on the short form.

kind of ironic how england's two biggest whingers (kp and harmlessone) and their most unprofessional player (fred) finally play to their potential in the last game of the winter. shame about the previous 15 games

still, how good are we
