We all know that if any of the opposition (or in some cases even your own players) touch you that you will be given a free kick by the knumskull referees.
If you are not brave enough to try to hold on to the ball then fuck off, and take Smith and Granville with you.

Get rid off all 3 now, they have had their chances and royally fucked it up.  The amount of points these 2 have cost us this season would have meant we would probably be mid table now.

Someone obviously had a word at half time, because he never punched 2nd half, he actually did well to punch for their second and my first instinct was he was impeded, but bottom line was although he got there he never go tenough on it, although it was never there for catching, i agree though both have gone downhill at a fast pace of knotts.

From what I have seen Brez is one of the poorest overall keepers I have seen in a Swindon shirt since Hammond and Warner.

I think you're all being a bit harsh, with keepers its a confidence thing. Obviously his confidence is low like the rest of the players in the squad. All our players are shit so don't understand why you are singling out Brez.

As I've just posted in another thread all our players are not shit.  If they are then how do we get decent results against the the better sides?

You'd have thought that Brez has blown his opportunities in England now. If he left for a division higher you'd think it would be as an understudy - which he wouldn't want.

IMO Brez is not the best keeper in this league nor is he above playing for Swindon which he seems to think.  From his comments its evident he doesn't want to be here so get rid in the summer for that reason alone.  Hes not however doing much to put himself in the shop window in the meantime though.

brez was ace when he first came here,he had a few rough edges ie his kicking, but looked extremely promising.he doesn't look promising anymore.i am baffled as he used to catch the ball with ease.now he tries to punch it,why? is this an instruction from g g g g granvile?

He's possibly one of the most over rated players I've seen play for STFC.  Over rated by a large number of our fans anyway.

he was fantastic against swansea last season too.

I used to love going to the derbies when Zibby and the like were in net! Hearts were guaranteed at least 1 goal from a GK blunder!

Alas, I think Hibs have a decent keeper now in that Polish fella. Hearts have always been pretty lucky with good keepers who are pretty secure.

he's always had a tendency towards punching but nowhere near as much as he does now. we had two decent goalkeepers at this level at one point, the only thing that's changed is the coaching.


i'd still get rid though

I think Brez should draw some pictures,maybe of himself making great saves or perhaps a Light House or a Meerkat.

I really do think it is time for Smith to be put back between the sticks, the last few games Brez looks dodgy and hesitant - although Smith is not the greatest keeper he is steady and I'm sure he wants a chance to prove to Wilson he can make the shirt his own, let's be honest as well he can't be any worse than Brez and he may surprise a few people by saving a few balls and catching crosses

For Brez, maybe. For Smith, another thing that's changed is he didn't used to provoke a lynch mob response on the radio, tinterweb and in the stands when his name is so much as mentioned as a possible alternative to the sainted Brez. Or when he has the temerity to actually play. I don't imagine that's done much to improve his game either

In a nutshell - we're fucked then.

I'd be amazed if a coach can manage to make a player stay consistently worse, players have to have the balls to live and die by their own decisions on the pitch.  Brezovan would appear to have joined us during a purple spell in his career, more likely is that what we are seeing now is his real consistent form rather than the result of some coaching sessions.  You'd have to ask why a wealth of worldwide scouts had missed him if what we saw in the first few weeks was how he always is.

His distribution has improved massively since Wilson took over, he seldom used to roll / throw / pass the ball to one of our players and pretty much always just lumped it one up the pitch.

Brez has always been quick to look for the full backs to throw to...

Id still rather have him in than Phil Smith,and no DV-I dont think he has cost us more points than Phil Smith in fact he earned us points at Millwall and Oldham.

Yeah but until Wilson came all he did was look, then shake his head, wave them up field and then boot the ball in to touch. There has definitely been a change and an improvement.

But Smith's at least no different in fact he's worse

Myself and Hertha were talking about exactly the same thing on Saturday, when he first signed he was in his best spell in his entire career but now what we have week to week is his "normal" level of performance which he will always have...... I.E. pretty poor.

The same manager at Team A and Team B had similar comments about both teams.  Does any of this sound familiar?

Perhaps this manager's style has caused players to make individual mistakes game after game after game.

Brez can also try catching the fuckin ball instead punching it, and he can also try to stop rushing out for balls that he is never going to get, Bring back Smith all is forgiven

Despite Brez's faults he is a much better keeper than Phil Flappy Smith.  If Smith plays Saturday i reckon Leeds will thrash us.  Smith will do his normal thing and let 2 goals in because he couldn't hold onto the ball properly which will result in it squirming under his body and into the back of the net

Have you seen Brez lately? They are both as bad as each other so there won't be a difference, Infact Smith may be better for the fact he will be fighting to get his place back.

TBH i have no confidence in either.  Flappy made so many howlers under Malpas i lost complete confidence in him.  Although Brez has made mistakes there has been many a time he's kept us in it with some great goalkeeping.  Out of the 2 Brez is the lesser evil.

We really do probably need 2 new keepers as both of the current ones seem to have become nervous wrecks.

At the moment Brez is the lesser of 2 evils ......... Smith punches everything and makes horrific mistakes on the basics and seems to suffer concentration lapses, he's not good enough and ended up at Crawley Town for a reason. Brez at least does most of the basics OK and has extra reach and can pull out good saves as a result but he's inconsistant and league 1/2 will always be his level. Neither seem to make any attempt to communicate with the defence.

So basically Smith does all the crap stuff Brez does but without most of the good stuff so there's no real option but to have Brez in goal. Both seem to have had purple patches in league 2 unfortunately.
