What do people think of the new Prodigy album?

Overall I like it. There a few tracks (especially the first couple) that sound a bit like Pendulum, which in my books is a bad thing. But theres a few really good ones.

A couple have a ravey retro element but with updated production, for example the melody on Colours and the vocal sample on Warriors Dance. Warriors Dance is my favourite track on the album and to be honest I think it would be amongst the best tracks on any of their previous albums. :D

Glad theres still at least some tracks that have an edge to them. Run With the Wolves is quite a rabble rouser.

The heavier tracks would go down very well live (and have been I think) and sit well amongst older material. Especially now the album is out and people know these tracks I don't think everyone will be thinking "oh dont know this one just waiting for the next track hope theyll play an old classic next".

Prodigy will probably totally kick ass at festivals this summer.

im a big fan and i really like this album but its there live act that really makes them stand out! they are awsome live!

Shit, missed this one completely, but then i don't read music press. :) I'll be getting this, most of their albums have some original quality provided you can hear through the marketing and hype. Smack my bitch up for instance is a fucking ace track, but it got little to no recognition as a peice of music, thanks to it's title and many amusing propagandist field days.

I also liked a few off the last album, which is by far their shittest. I absolutely fucking love "You'll Be Under My Wheels" a seriously very uncomfortably large amount.

Buying this tmrw as its pay day.

Sort of. Although it wasn't Keith. The previous one "Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned" was all done by Liam. Keith and Maxim (the big black MC one) weren't involved. Although apparently they were never actually out of the band and have always been present live.

Liam has always written pretty much all of it anyway. I'm sure the others have an opinion and some ideas but hes the one who makes it all. Keiths a dancer who then started doing vocals too. Maxim is more obvious live where hes basically shouting all the time and hyping up the crowd constantly.  :D

Interesting fact, my old neighbour used to play bass for the prodigy when they toured in the 90's!

Prodigy are top and latest album (only heard about half) sounds great !, but Pendulum aren't too shabby either. They were good at the Oasis !

I must admit I haven't properly listened to it even though I have it. I've heard the singles and I got the impression it was just very below par.

Always outnumbered never outgunned was pretty good. Maybe not as good as fat of the land or jilted generation but not many albums are. I like what I've heard of the new one.

just got this - first impression was its a fairly underwhelming rip off of the pendulum, which is rather ironic when you consider what the pendulum would have grown up listening to.  i cheered up a bit by track 6 though.

Yeah the first 2 or 3 I kinda thought that too. But it improves - theres some heavier tracks with that edge you would expect from prodigy.

There's nothing wrong with sounding like Pendulum I love Pendulum's latest offering!  However, I'm a bit disappointed by Invader's Must Die, would have liked it a bit heavier.  Track 6 is awesome but needs some proper base rather than that blowy guitar thing!    :D

If you are properly into the rave or drum and bass scene then there really is something very wrong with sounding like pendulum - ie they sanitise and dilute the sound. Thats why they're beloved of indie kids who don't actually go to dance music events.

To be fair I don't think they claim to be a drum and bass act anymore even though they still DJ. They have gone even more in the  rock direction by touring with a live band.

A couple of their earlier tracks were actually good tho. I'm thinking The Vault, Masochist...

Oh right the first album when they were doing the ravey stuff. Those tracks sound pretty old skool now. The have more of a happy dancey vibe don't they. I like that one with the sample "take me on a trip", think its called "music reach".
