Title: Darlington In Administration
Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 11:37:06
Second time for them I think?

Darlington are expected to announce that they have been placed in administration on Wednesday, reports BBC Tees.

Administrators would take over the running of the club from chairman George Houghton, with the priority of finding new investment.

Darlington are currently seventh in League Two, but entering administration would incur a 10-point decuction.

The Quakers were previously placed into administration in 2003.

Sad for Darlington, there's still a hope for the Play-Offs for them. Dave Penney is a good lower league boss and they have some decent players - sadly they don't have a major fanbase.

There is no formal limit on the number of times you can go into admin, either legally or from the FL. It's a myth

Like PaulD says, you can go into administration as many times as you want. Exiting it is the tricky part.

Who was their cunt of a chairman? The name George Reynolds springs to mind. He sowed the seeds of their demise.

Quote from: The Beeb
"The club has a number of advantages which in my view would make it attractive to an investor including a good manager with a history of securing promotion; a strong team currently on the edge of the play-off positions; a sound management team and loyal staff, and a stadium which would be the envy of most Championship clubs and some Premier League clubs.

Yeah, trouble is, its absolutely no good having a 15-odd thousand seater stadium when you only get 2,000 fans. 5,000 in a 3 sided flat pack ground capable of holding 12,000 is bad enough.

The North East is full of glory hunters, take Hull and Newcastle for example. Okay, Newcastle have had no glory but for a team so shit they get big attendances just for being in the Prem. Perhaps if Darlo were in the Championship and pushing for promotion they'd fill it?

There's alot of Sunderland fans. You'd be suprised, then again I work in Durham which I believe is Mackem territory. Newcastle have alot of supporters regardless of whether or not they go - like every fanbase in the world some don't go when it's shit.

Darlington and Hartlepool have no hope. George Reynolds has a dreamer and a crooked, a lethal combination.
