Should be a fair crowd with decent weather, the new "Honda" offer and the fact it seems like ages since the last game.  Also, those who saw us at Leicester and Millwall Im sure will definitely want to see if we can replicate the same form at home. Lets hope we can.

This is our first Saturday home game since, I think, Yeovil before Christmas. Two months. It feels like the first game of the season all over again and I have almost forgotten my match day routine.

I really hope Greer is fit to play. Fortunately we do have Vincent too, I think our entire new found confidencce hinges on these two players.

Cox hat trick today...ware due to stuff someone,missed the match last week so looking forward to this.

I think the performance will take care of itself today. The players are playing with confidence and they always seem to raise their game a bit for teams at the top.

I hope we can generate a good atmosphere today.

We're overdue a home win on a Saturday...having had only 2 all season, 1 since the opening fixture.

Even in the most shitty of seasons we've usually managed 3 or 4....can't see it being today though Scunny are away specialists.

It's great that there's a more positive vibe amongst fans now, it wasn't that long ago that it was all horribly negative.

I'm serious! Kingy was the master at putting some decent runs together, unfortunately he was just as good at putting together the horrendous ones. I think he's the only manager I'd describe as inconsistently consistent. Legend.

And he achieved a higher league position than any other manager since him.

Next game is against Hartlepool as well. We could look in a lot better position in the next week.

Great to hear the ground in full voice in the second half. From what I've heard Timlin's shot crossed the line (didn't have good view of it myself), and the Cox pen that was never given when it should have, so we got what we deserved second half. I bloody love Danny Wilson already!

robbed of a clear goal,and we came out of the blocks well for the first 10 mins.the rest of the first half was rubbish and we were chasing shadows.timlin was easilty mom and i liked kanu(apart from his corners)kanyuka and awankwaa were piss poor.(both big lumps but not gifted enough footballers).we set up like a team playing away and we were very fortunate to have those players sent off as we would have lost.why cant mcgovern even make the bench?

glad we won but it was by no means a good performance.if we stay up(i think we will)i'd still like to see a fair few of our players leave.

First things first - Scunthorpe are merely a bunch of dirty, cheating scumbags - they'll get whats coming to them thats for sure.

Goal not given that was - should have been 5 but I'm happy with 4.

We were poor first half but what I liked was that Wilson changed it at half time bringing Morrison in rather than waiting which shows signs IMO of a Manager who knows what he is doing.

Secondly, 9 men yes and they deserved nothing less.  The foul in the first half should have got a straight red and justice was done in the 2nd.

The sticking point for me was that Wilson was actually able to make changes when they were reduced to have a positive impact and change the game.  Bringing on a pacy winger in Macnamee was a good move - gave them the run around and we dominated (and so we should have to be honest). 

Someone on the radio text in saying that "Smith was carried".  What a load of tosh.  Thought he was good today, some intelligent passing, good overlap and never gives up.  Always there to support his teammates/give them an option.

One things for sure, those 4 goals will be a huge boost confidence wise but we do still look shaky at the back without Greer.  Vincent was trying to guide Lescinel but not sure to how much avail.  Vincent is far more of a key player than I realised at the beginning of the season.  A good leader.

Amankwaah didnt really get into the game but can forgive him for that as did well IMO at Leicester. 

All in all, a great 3 points and also, great team spirit and commitment to come back.

Great post...Except about Smith,like to see him right side of midfield,oh and for me(know its boring) but when Greer was not fit whys Morrison on the bench,makes the odd mistake but his throwins give us a boost,thaught he did well second half with Vincent in his proper position..fair play to Timlin as well cos he got a lot of stick awhile back.

Timlin was anonymous at Leicester, better at Millwall, and from what everyone has said seems to be getting back to the player he was, which is good news for the rest of the season.

I was surprised we went with Jean-Francios as the replacement for Greer we could have used Morrison, Kanyuka, Kennedy, Timlin.

I would have picked nearly all of those ahead of him, but then if we didnt try him we wouldnt what he was like and we could have a really good defender sat on the bench wasted

he's played half a professional game, think its a bit too early to judge.

I didnt think he was great but I didnt think he was shit, certainly not at fault for any of the goals.

Lescinel is a dead ringer for eboue from a distance.

I thought we were unluky to go behind, we should have had a few ourselves by that stage. How paynter missed that header in the first half i'll never know. The defence didn't quite know how to react to the corner for their first, it was somehting abit different. The second one is entirely jack smiths fault. He had ages and ages to deal with it but just pussyfooted about, as he is prone to do. I'd prefer amankwaah at right back on tuesday, i genuinely dont think smith is good enough.

I'm not sure their 15 deserved a red for his first tackle. I dont think he could complain much if had got one then, but i can see why he only got a yellow. It was late and a bit reckless but wasn't two footed and wasn't particularly high. Their captain was unfortunate to be sent off. Two extremely soft yellows.

It was a good performance to win but we can't get carried away. They had 9 men. At 2-0 up with their full quoata they were cruising, we looked out of it. Its pleasing that we took our chance today though, and long may it continue

Thought Brez looked shaky today and Amankwaah and Kanyuka weren't as good as they have been against Leicester and Millwall, but overall it was great team spirit to come back like that.

Hartlepool don't seem to travel well so another 3 points on Tuesday please.

I thought that Scunthorpe looked pretty average, them leading 2-0 at half time was criminal. I thought the Timlin shot crossed the line, it definitely seem to come down towards the back of the net.

As regards that foul in the first half I thought it was only a yellow (a bad yellow but not bad enough for a red) as whilst it looked bad he didn't go in dangerously or recklessly. But I'm sure the ref took it in to account when it came to sending him off, he might of got away without a card otherwise. I thought the first red was a bit harsh, I didn't even see a foul for either of the yellows let alone something warranting a card.

Surprised that Wilson didn't switch to 3 at the back once they were down to 9 and play an extra midfielder / forward. But we scored 4 and won so you can't complain, he obviously got it right.

Whilst they were down to 9 men, I thought scoring 4 was a pretty good achievement as they had everyone back. I was impressed by they way they kept the ball and worked to create space which led to the goals, rather than just panicking and pumping it forward.

All in all an excellent performance and one which makes a mockery of us being in a relegation battle.

My uncle was sat down the far end of the Arkells and said the Timlin shot was a good two foot over the line. Apparently, even Murphy turned to the linesman afterwards and indicated to him with his hands that "it was this far over".

Well, what a game. Scunny were a bunch of cheating, time wasting, whining bastards. As for the ref, he bottled every big decision in the 1st half and was so picky he disn't allow the game to flow. Timlin's shot was over the line. Cox was taken out big time in the box. Not sure about their penatly claim. Both goals were shit defending from Town yet again. We went to pieces - our organisation and bottle completely went. Then we have the foul that got the Scunny bastard a yellow card. Unless I'm wrong, the referee had actually waved play on and it must have been the lino who called it. If that isn't a straight red then I don't know what is. I lost it at this point much to the amusement of my daughter.
Fair play to Wilson for the change at half time and what he must have said to the players. The Scuuny bastard who assualted Timlin in the first got his marching orders for another bad challenge. Why that cunt Murphy thought he had to get involved God knows. he really is an objectionable little twat and deserved the stick he got as did the ref.  Then we had 4 goals and in between them another just sending off.
The thing that changed the game for me was the introduction of Macca who played really well.
All in all, well worth the money. The defensive frailities were there and the half time whistle couldn't come soon enuogh.
After that thuogh, my glass is defintely half full.

I must admit I fear the worst when he took Paynter off for Peacock. A team down to 9 men and us 2 behind you'd think he would have thrown on a 3rd striker....but....Wilson obviously knows what he is doing.

The lino was a useless cunt. He wound me up something proper. He rarely did anything with his flag until the ref indicated. He was always a mile behind the play and would never have seen an offside when play was going towards the townend because he just stopped miles out.

Timlin's shot was well over the line. I was sat as good as in line with it and the ball was a good foot over. The lino was stood at least 25-30 yards from the corner flag, which is, apart from when corners were taken, as far as he ventured towards the townend. He was completely and utterly fucking useless. As was the ref imo.

Loved the game though, and Lescinel didn't look bad to me. He was committed, energetic and won everything in the air. Ok, he was a bit rough around the edges, but he wasn't all that bad.

i agree with leefer about giving smith a go in right mid.he is a good footballer with passing ability gets caught at the back at times though(not alone there ifil).at home you need to attack teams,awankwaa offered nothing in that respect.if mcgovern is out of favour i do not think awankwaa is the answer at all.

With all respect arriba, you didn't see Amankwaah at Leicester and Millwall where he was always our out-ball and played very well. He got into good crossing positions and made some good runs, whilst also offering good defensive cover. I think he just had a bad game today.

Although id like to see McNamee/Kanu both played although I cant work out if Kanu is good or shit

i'll take peoples words for his good performances away sam,in no way am i disputing that.but he was utter shite today.for me wide players need to take the game to the opposition in the majority of games,especially at home.i prefer players that can create, and from what i've seen of him he doesn't do that.he is very untidy with poor touch and passing.sometimes you need brutes to bully games but that wasn't today.wilson saw that and changed it to his credit.i'd have subbed kanyuka instead of paynter, but apart from that agreed with the subs made by wilson.

The problem with Macca is that whilst he is great going forward and creates a lot of chances, he can't perform for the full 90 minutes and his defending is crap. Which unfortunately is probably a luxury that we can't afford.

 I agree with the manky away and JPM at home, DW will have noticed that, suspect it will be kanu right and macca left on Tuesday.

Everyone has said everything worth saying so I'll give key points.

Timlin scored 1st half, tackle was a definate red = Dirty Cunt! 1st goal, Brez's fault, 2nd Goal Smiths fault, but good play by the Arsenal young lad, 1st sending off was harsh, but considering the the way the bias ref had treated us first half, 2nd sending off Cox got him sent off, but the dirty cunt deserved it!  Glad we managed to score the 4 goals after that as in the past we wouldn't have!  Wilson's subs were spot on today, could have scored 7 or 8 in the end!

Is this accurate?

There captain was unlucky to be sent off. His first yellow was never a yellow, and his second was iffy. The second can have no complaints. Other than that i didnt think they were overly physical myself. All they did was steal a few yards at throw ins, nothing overly awful.

The family next door walked with me to the game, their first. The daughter played in the half-time kids game, the reason for going, and their younger son is also football mad. The parents really enjoyed the game, and the atmosphere.  Is it like this every week?, the wife, who knows little about football, asked me.   :nod:

I thought taking off paynter was an inspired move because it stopped are defenders from lumping the ball up rather than patient build up and getting the ball out wide. Timlin was superb today covered lots of ground and must be made of steel the way he got up from one of the worst challenges I have seen for ages how the guy never had a straight red is beyond me.
Wilson seems to have turned the side around and they look full of confidence bring on Hartlepool and another 3 points as we start to climb away from trouble.

Hartlepool have won just two league games in their last 18.

We should be looking to attack them and get all three points.

Precisely. This is the point that anyone who says "Ooooh well, it was only against 9 men" is missing. I didn't go to the game but when I heard we were 0-2 down against 9 men I thought "Oh fuckity fuckity fuck fuck" or somehting along those lines. I thought it would be very difficult to come back against a 9 man defence. But we did and that is massive credit to DW and the players.

In any case, I remember us going to Brentford in '93 and getting a 0-0 when White and Mitchell had been sent off. Bodin even came within a whisker  of winning it for us. We also beat Plymouth 3-0 in '89 with 9 men (OK, they only had 10) It would have been so gutting to have lost that after those three great draws. That was a massive, possibly/hopefully season turning result.

Which makes it even more of a mystery why they got rid of Wilson, but I am glad they did  :)

Have to be honest I didn't think that Timlin shot was a goal, none of us in the TE seemed up in arms that it wasn't given, did think it could have been a pen on Cox though (1st half one), the lad certainly didn't play the ball.

Said 5-2 win in the car on the way down so bit gutted they didn't push for the 5th at the end, meh...

Absolutely delighted we got to ask Murphy what the score was, I'm sure he wasn't such a dickhead at Tranmere and WBA(?).  Was a massive cunt away and I couldn't be happier the goal that put us ahead was his fault, bet he felt like a right twat - good!

Didn't see Kev starting a home game in midfield coming, really expected him to be back to the bench today and don't really expect him to start on Tuesday but think it's for the best he keeps his place away from home for the time being.

Liked the way we were patient when they went down to nine, think they realised the goals would come and well pleased with their approach, glad macca took his chance today too.

3 good (needed) points - said on the way home from Leicester that I really can't see us going down now and I still feel the same, there's so much more belief on the pitch it's untrue.

Big pat on the back for the month of Feb so far, most convincing we've been all season.  :)

One of our men sent off was Shaun Close, so it made little difference....their man sent off was David Byrne

I was sat in Arkells level with 18 yard box and the ball was definately a foot or more over!!!

Remember that game well, the atmosphere was superb, was in the top tier behind the goal and it felt at times it was all going to collapse!  

From the DR stand it looked like a penalty in the first half, sure you had a better look in the Town End, verdict?

Very much so. They played two banks of four as soon as the second player got sent off. Whilst they didn't have any front men to close down our back line, we did still have to break them down and did so 4 times.

GET IN! That's what i'll say. Lost all hope at half time but their bloke should have been sent off in the first but did get the red in the second. Thought we did well first 10 minutes but not for the rest of the first half. It was poor and un-inspiring like the Malpas days. But we got the lucky break we needed with them getting two reds then it was all us. Great win, great sub by Wilson to bring Macca on and we edged it with a great second half display. Roll on Hartlepool.

Congratulations to all, a game we will remember for a long time, and I don't know if it has been mentioned, but a good atmosphere in the ground as well.

Talking to my lad on the way home yesterday I told him I wished I could be as laid back as 'Amankwaah and Kanyuka'.
It must be great in life never coming out of first gear, no worries, just stroll through the day and a professional football match, what's the rush - there is none - those two will never suffer stress or heart problems.

Did you see Super Sammy Parkins goal for Luton, great finish.

He's the most direct winger we've got, goes past players a lot. If he sorted out his crossing he'd be far too good for the standard of our team.

Euphoric (pissed) last night and now in the cold light of a Sunday morning just wanted to say well done Town, particularly DW for his subs and tactics, and the players for playing through Scunny when we had the advantage instead of a hoof ball bombardment ! Nice one !  ;D

kanu has talent.he did over do things and was a bit over keen at times,also his corners were erratic.but he was a threat throughout the game yesterday,not just against 9 men either.

he is usually more direct that mcnamee, but macca's only fanciness provided a goal

kanu put in a quality ball in the first 10 minutes when he got the ball on the halfway line and beat his man.

Sounds like a great game. The solid performance may not have been there this time but it still sounds like we're far from a relegation team. Having seen th eperformances at Leicester and Millwall I'd be thoroughly disappointed to see us fail to climb the table a bit from here, and I expect us to be free from any real worries of relegation before most of the clubs in the current mix

As has been said before, but Timlin was outstanding. Took a lot of knocks out there and still put in a great shift.

Great to see a bit of fight at home. I agree that we went to sleep a bit first half, but Wilson does seem to have an affect at HT. Well done to the fans who stayed with the team as well, clapped off the substitutes (even when we were 2 down) and had the belief that we could get back into the game.

That Robson Kanu has promise, but his final ball is often sloppy. He is a typical example of a player comming out of the upper leagues reserve teams. Loads of skill, loads of promise, but he's not used to the pressure of delivering when it really matters. Ive decided hes a bit arrogant as well, we clapped a lot of the players as they were leaving the CG driving their cars, and he didnt respond, was on his mobile already!

Bit of criticism on here for Amankwaah and Kanyuka. But that was their first home game in their new positions. Both are more suited to away games because they are more defensive options. Both looked a bit uncertain with the pressure to attack from the home crowd. Im not that bothered about Amankwaah, but Ive always seen something in Kanyuka (even though hes had a lot of nightmares at the back!). So hopefully Wilson can coach him a bit. Both of them worked very hard in our last 2 away games.

I only saw the goals because they were on early, so well done ITV!

massibe, massive win. Even bigger was my dad's win at the bookies. I had 2-2, he had a fiver at 4-2 at 66/1, the bookie was almost in tears!

I thought we played well until their goals. We went to pieces a bit and there's no question them going down to nine men helped us, but you still have to get past nne men, not as easy as it seems and we showed patience.

The guy who went off second should have gone in the first half, and the irony of it all was that the ref only sent off the first guy because he bottled it with the other one. Ref was abysmal IMO.

Scunny looked a strong side I thought. quick, strong.

I thought Timlin was immense, really took control of the game.

Looked better with morrison at the back. just looked to have a better shape, plus his throws are a good weapon, we don;t seem to have any ideas from throw ins these days.

Thought Jack Smith played well too. Cox worked hard, but need to spend less time arguing with the ref!

Was it just me or was Morrison's passing really sloppy? Not just where he nearly sold brez short, but on a few other occasions too.

I don't understand why we don't pack the box when he takes a throw - he seems to be throwing at one player stood all on his own, with the rest of the players randomly placed around and outside the box. Its like they've only half thought it out, they know his long throw is a decent weapon but haven't thought about how to use it for the best.

Not sure why he kept playing short passes to other defenders when he had time and space to do something with the ball himself. Though maybe Wilson has said to get the ball to Ifil when possible.

After going to Leicester and Millwall i missed this stormer of a match....i will be at the Monkey hangers game on Tuesday and going to Tranny.

My mobile was rumbling with texts and at 2-0 i was not happy.....

looks like we have clawed a few teams above us back into the dogfight.

I hope we are the team that storms away from trouble as there is always one that plummets and one that rises like a phoenix..........

Fully agree about the linesman. He didn't make a decision before the ref made it. God knows what he was supposedly looking at to miss the Timlin effort which was a yard over the line. Hell, he wasn't in line with the final man to give an offside if needed, and what got me was the ref asked the linos opinion in regards to the late challenge on Timlin, yet he couldn't make a decision to save his life. To me both sendings off were justified, but it was noticeable that we had a plan of action to take advantage of the situation instead of resorting to Plan A.

Didnt show Timlin strike on highlights (Championship tv) perhaps they should scrap the Divvy 1 and 2 and just give Leicester and Leeds their own section.

They already do that on Sky !!!
