Title: Memory Test
Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, February 20, 2009, 10:28:47
15 years ago yesterday - who did we play and what was the score?

No cheating now.

Was that match not played on 19 Feb?  I was on Stratton Bank that day, so gutted when they equalised, we'd have gone off the bottom that day had we got the 3 points.

Edit - just re-read BO's post, it did say 15 years ago yesterday!  Apologies, I only remember as it was played on my 17th birthday - extra reason to be gutted about not getting off the bottom.

That weekend wasn't a particularly good one for you Jan. Up in scotland, Hibs were playing Hearts in the scottish Cup. Remember Wayne Foster and all that?

Jeez BO, I can't remember that!!  Although looking at the Hearts team of the day there are some familiar faces, John Colquhoun, Tosh McKinlay, Craig Levein, Maurice Johnston, John Robertson and Scott Leitch!!

Have to say that terracing looked immense, would love to bring that kinda thing back into todays game.

I was thinking that as I was watching some of the old Hibs v Hearts matches on that website. Hearts seemed to score a lot of goals in front of the away terrace which was always jam packed! It does look cracking - I never got to experience terracing very much. One of my favourite terrace scenes was the Tranmere play-off game when we scored 3 in the first half at the Stratton Bank. That gives me goosebumps watching.

Shrivvie Road used to be pretty good up against the away fans, especially when Rovers or Oxford were in town, used to have that surge from the left (as you stood there) when we scored.
I miss the terraces, something was lost from the game when they went.

Bring back the terraces. The seats only get in the way and make the terraces more dangerous.
