Title: Mullen Sacked as Walsall Manager
Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 03:07:02

Walsall inTwelfth Place!?

Walsall have sacked manager Jimmy Mullen after just four wins in their last 16 games.

First-team coach John Schofield has been placed in temporary charge of the Saddlers, who lie in mid-table in League One.

"The decision has been taken as a result of a sequence of disappointing results, particularly at home games," a club statement read.

"It was necessary to take this decision in the best interests of the club."

The 55-year-old former Blackpool and Burnley boss joined the Saddlers as assistant to Richard Money in September 2007.

With Money's resignation in April 2008, Mullen stepped in as caretaker manager before being appointed full-time a month later.

During his playing career Mullen represented Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham and got his first coaching job as assistant manager to Ian Porterfield at Aberdeen in 1986.

Mullen took charge of Blackpool in 1989 before moving to Fourth Division Burnley where he guided the Clarets to two promotions.

So Walsall join QPR, Cheltenham, Leeds, and Huddersfield in sacking their manager after picking up a win against us. Hartlepool's draw was as good as a win so you can throw them in as well I suppose.

If you want to keep your job, then let us win. Martin Ling knows.

It's a bit of a worry that all those mentioned are seen as failing sides, but beat us quite easily...further it's a bit of a worry that we picked up one of these failing sides manager  :(

In that phone in Wilson pretty much suggested it was by mutual consent.

I neglected to include Colchester United in my list of sides who have beaten us this season, then gone on to sack their manager.

Currently beating Franchise 1-0 at the building site.

No it isn't you're just a miserable bastard.

We were good against Walsall.. Should have won it in all honesty. It was only a performance their 'keeper will never replicate that stopped us getting the win we deserved.
