Title: BBC Comedy Post by: adje on Friday, January 9, 2009, 20:52:33 Has it ever been as bad as it is now?Last night A NEW SERIES OF GREEN GREEN GRASS FFS!Preceded by a truly awful Caroline Quentin vehicle. These programmes are a fucking insult to our intelligence and then tonight Parents of the Band-where's the fucking jokes?Cant think of the last really decent BBC1 sitcom, definitely not My Family or that Nicholas Lyndhurst effort.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, January 9, 2009, 20:54:25 Can't say I watch any BBC1 comedies. I tend to watch the U.S. stuff these days.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: suttonred on Friday, January 9, 2009, 20:55:38 Was early doors BBC 1 or 2? if 1 i nominate that.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, January 9, 2009, 20:56:24 Oh I like Outnumbered, that's BBC1 isn't it? I watcb that on iPlayer though.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Dazzza on Friday, January 9, 2009, 20:57:30 The waiting room had it's moment have to agree though an aweful lot of shit being trawled out.
Don't mind The Green Green Grass just for the Boyce. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: axs on Friday, January 9, 2009, 21:04:52 It's all been Channel 4 for me recently.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, January 9, 2009, 21:08:38 Lead Balloon hasn't been too bad, but it's not exactly a comedy I tune in to watch especially.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Saxondale on Friday, January 9, 2009, 21:37:39 Still better than ITV comedy. In fact do ITV do comedy?
Outnumbered was great, mock the week, HIGNFY, buzzcocks sort of stuff are pretty good. In the meantime ITV have produced nothing of note. Mind you green gren grass and that other thing are just shit. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, January 9, 2009, 21:49:30 It was the whole point of Extras series 2 wasn't it. When the Whistle Blows was clearly awful but because it had a few accents and catchphrases it was popular with no critical acclaim.
In reality that's pretty much what the Green Green Grass is isn't it? Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Batch on Friday, January 9, 2009, 22:04:23 In the meantime ITV have produced nothing of note. I quite enjoyed Benidorm, but I caught that by accident. ITV really are assmasters at comedy. BBC do have some good stuff. I quite enjoyed Gavin and Stacey and Outnumbered. Never a big fan of Little Britain or the Royale Family but they seem to get good ratings. Problem with the BBC efforts mentioned earlier is they are the kind of gentle non-offensive pre-watershed family comedy. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Friday, January 9, 2009, 22:30:13 Can't say I watch any BBC1 comedies. I tend to watch the U.S. stuff these days. They're even worse. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, January 9, 2009, 22:33:39 They're even worse. I don't mean the "laughter track" kind of comedies - things like the Curb Your Enthusiasm, U.S. Office, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Entourage all good comedies in their own right. You probably knew what I meant and dislike them, but there's some good stuff in the U.S. at the moment - just the same as in the U.K, sometimes you've got to look for them! Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: suttonred on Friday, January 9, 2009, 23:00:46 Never thought i'd say it after years of shite from the US, cosby, roseanne, fresh prince spring to mind, but their comedy is far superior these days and has been for years. Simpsons, Family Guy, Curb, Malcolm in the middle.....
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Nemo on Friday, January 9, 2009, 23:03:02 There is nowt wrong with the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. You'll be slagging off Keenan and Kel next.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: oxford_fan on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 00:21:56 did kell die? in real life.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 00:40:04 did kell die? in real life. Nope, that was a bad rumour. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: oxford_fan on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 00:50:38 oh well.
lenny henry was surprisingly funny on 'live from the apollo' tonight, bbc1. i thought he'd be shit. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Panda Paws on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 03:27:20 Not Going Out is quite good, mostly thanks to the excellent Tim Vine, who is a fucking legend!
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Bennett on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 07:38:39 They're even worse. hush your stupid mouth (via your hands to type), arrested development is amazing and is american Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Bedford Red on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 12:53:47 oh well. lenny henry was surprisingly funny on 'live from the apollo' tonight, bbc1. i thought he'd be shit. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: yeo on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 18:48:03 Did he do Trevor McDonut?
i think BBc does some great comedy, though Id have to agree that Green Green Grass is shite. That sort of dated comedy clearly has a market though My Family gets decent viewing figures.I think its pensioners that watch it,each to their own. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 18:49:04 My Family or Family Guy?
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: yeo on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 18:52:42 My Family I think..It used to have the bloke from the BT Home Hub adverts in it.Also anything with Rodney from Only Fools is pretty wank, except Only Fools obviously.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 18:57:53 Sorry Yeov's that was an 'in-joke' between myself, Deee Veee, axs and Luci.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: yeo on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 18:59:33 Pfft in jokes, you're worse than the BBC.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 19:27:27 'the cup' which was on bbc2 a few months ago was funny.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: adje on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 19:31:10 Yeah weren't bad-but I was talking about BBC1,the standard seems a lot poorer there.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 19:32:58 i dont watch alot of tv at all really.sky+'d shooting stars last week which was alright.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 19:39:49 hush your stupid mouth (via your hands to type), arrested development is amazing and is american But it's American.....that's never a good start. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 19:41:31 I don't mean the "laughter track" kind of comedies - things like the Curb Your Enthusiasm, U.S. Office, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Entourage all good comedies in their own right. You probably knew what I meant and dislike them, but there's some good stuff in the U.S. at the moment - just the same as in the U.K, sometimes you've got to look for them! That's fair enough. I've never liked American comedy myself. Their version of The Office was enough to put me off for life tbh. Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 20:24:53 That's fair enough. I've never liked American comedy myself. Their version of The Office was enough to put me off for life tbh. Anyone who made it beyond the first season (where it is almost word-for-word the same as the original) they were rewarding with some darn good television (in my opinion). Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 20:57:58 just remebered, the royle family was pretty ace at xmas.
Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: axs on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 00:26:41 Title: Re: BBC Comedy Post by: michael on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 09:01:40 I don't watch comedy because it is bad for your complexion, but one thing I do know that you will be interested in is that the laughter tracks you get with many productions were recorded in the 1950s. Which means a lot of the people you hear laughing during these shows are in fact dead now.
Just thought you might like to know that. |
