Title: Crime Pays? Post by: leefer on Thursday, December 18, 2008, 22:02:50 Now ime not a do gooder or an expert in this field but if true what i heard today made my blood boil...feel free to correct me if ime wrong.
A guy serving a long stretch for armed robbery has served the last two years in an open prison, and while there has been working which obviously is a good thing and part of his rehab into normal life...my issue is that hes been saving his wages and stands to pick up £13,000 on his release...now in my eyes that cant be right surely. Like i say i know prison isnt easy but to be getting all meals etc for a few years with no outlay and to come out with a sum like that....well in my eyes it cant be right. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: axs on Thursday, December 18, 2008, 22:04:03 Stops him going and robbing anyone though.
Hope he did a lot of overtime mind. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, December 18, 2008, 22:13:15 We don't make the rules, so i say fair play to the bloke. I know where you're coming from and i kind of agree, but in my opinion we have enough laws and redtape to remove our freedom and rights without adding more.
Life's just a short old game where the many pay for the indolence of the rest; the government get their cut, and that is all that matters. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: chalkies_shorts on Thursday, December 18, 2008, 22:56:50 Maybe he should pay it back to the company / person he robbed.
Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Sippo on Friday, December 19, 2008, 08:25:41 Suppose the good thing is that he saved his money instead of drugs etc, and when he comes out he'll be financially secure and won't have to turn to crime.
Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: tans on Friday, December 19, 2008, 08:41:26 Hes only going to buy an Ak47 with it anyway.
Fair play i say Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: leefer on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 19:23:09 Twat in the Adver last night in Crown Court charged with Rape and possesing a pump action shotgun in the Toothill area along with other alleged fiearm offences..........given bail.

Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: oxford_fan on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 21:29:56 isn't it correct that if you don't work in prison, you can claim the dole?
Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 21:34:30 No it's not true.
Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 21:50:57 Fair play to the bloke
Second chances and all that ! Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:07:16 Agree Fred.If he turns his life around and does good with the money and his life then prison has done it's job.
Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:08:31 Exactly
surely this epitomises rehabilitation ? Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Doore on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:10:26 I've always thought we should give offenders the amount of money they need to stop committing crime. I'd rather we gave heroin addicts enough money to buy smack then them having to mug old ladies for it. Just give them about £200k each every year and acquisitive crime will plummet.
This works for whores too. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:11:02 Punishment for crime is meant to be retribution with an end. As in once you have served your time/paid your fine/done your community service or whatever then the slate is supposed to be wiped clean and you start all over again.
Well that's how used to be. Now it seems that the stigma for your past actions stays with you which I think is just wrong. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Strangely i actually agree to a point. I do believe Heroin should be legalized but that's a different argument. This works for whores too. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Doore on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:17:07 Strangely i actually agree to a point. I do believe Heroin should be legalized but that's a different argument. Really? Even I don't agree with most of what I said. You're right though - Heroin should be legalised. I agree with the last few posts - this seems like a perfect example of the system working to me - a man has done his time, and if he now begins a new life, living within the law, and not offending again - then that's a pat on the back for our justice system. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:22:15 Really? Even I don't agree with most of what I said. Then why post it Billy ? You got pissed off with me before when I said you only posted for effect. Enough said I think Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: Doore on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 22:25:29 Then why post it Billy ? You got pissed off with me before when I said you only posted for effect. Enough said I think Lighten up Fred - it was clearly posted in jest. For "for effect" read "for a bit of a laugh on a light hearted forum". However, for clarity - I don't think people who mug old ladies should get an annual, tax free payment of £200,000 for the rest of their lives, and would like to apologise to anyone to whom I gave such an impression. He came on wearing it when we played Ipswich away last time we were in CCC, I believe Chris Hay was up front for us that day too. Now that is some years ago. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Not sure I did reverse though - I made the first comment with tongue firmly in cheek. You do seem to quite agitated lately though Fred. I'm getting worried about you. For the record, I still think "for effect" and "clearly in jest" are different. You are clearly free to disagree. Title: Re: Crime Pays? Post by: tans on Thursday, June 10, 2010, 08:27:25 How did that Roy Whiting cunt get an apparent 10 year reduction in his sentence?
Also, hope Gail Platt goes down, and gets done in the face with a shovel. The ewok looking slag |
