What did we do to develop his talent? He was here for about 9 months FFS. All we did was spot a player that had scored over 100 goals in one season in his under 11 team and sign him up to our CofE. Less than a year later he had the chance to go to Southampton's academy and sensibly leapt at it. I'm not convinced he left here with any more potential than when he arrived.
Southampton invested more in their youth set up than us and as a result get the pick of the local kids. If we had a decent academy we might get to keep a few more decent kids.
