Unlikely after Fitton said that all 3 shortlisted candidates were employed at clubs from a higher divison.

Wilson and his assistant have left, not just Wilson

danny wilsons barmy army, fits in well with our signing bristol city ex players policy.

Nah, he's going to Forest.

;)

The Hartlepool fans seem glad to see the back of him, moaning about stay ways and lack of atmosphere!

The again, some mentalist did put this:

Quote
for giving Monkhouse (the most creative player we have at the moment) a whopping 5 minutes from THE BENCH.

Great tactics. Keep it up.

Surely Fitton wouldn't employ an ex slave trader would he?!

You just know that there will be an announcement to deny Wilson is going to be the new boss like every other human being we've been linked with.

That's another I won't be serving at work anymore. Danny Wilson is a short man, and wears a leather jacket.

That folks, is a fact.

I don't beleive he did say that, all he said was all on his shortlist were employed....

I reckon it might be Hartlepool who Fitton said were reluctant to enter negotiations with him. Does seem a bit strange to me that Danny's left when they're mid-table. Wouldn't be a bad appointment at all.

He'd offer stability. I'm not sure though. Doubt it's anything to do with us tbh.

I know that Hartlepool fans were unhappy with the amount of times they had to salvage draws against teams they should be at home (us included).

The Adver said: "The shortlisted quartet are all currently in employment at a higher level" Fitton himself never mentioned the 'higher level' bit though.

And Wilson leaving Hartlepool so suddenly certainly fits in with Fitton's quote in today's Adver: "“We are still hoping to secure his services, but it’s looking less likely from his club’s position,” Fitton said.

“They have been reticent about entering into negotiations with us at all."

That would be the type of situation which could lead to Wilson resigning IF he was interested in coming to Swindon and IF it is him that Fitton is talking about.

I think of all the realistic options who could be appointed, there will be a certain proportion of the fan base (the worryingly large mongish element, the ones who think Fitton and co are 'no better than the last lot' and are under the impression Fitton hasn't spent any money etc) who will not like the successful applicant whoever it is, for whatever reason.

I would be quite happy with Danny myself. We really do need this resolved sooner rather than later though. I am getting just a teeny weeny bit concerned now.

I thought he was doing a decent job there and could attract decent players like that winger we was after.I would love to see him here.

I'm sure it can't be Wilson, if it was and he resigned, H'Pool would refuse to accept his resignation forcing Swindon to enter into negotiations to pay compo and then they play hard ball, and then when they can't agree they put him on garden leave stopping him taking any other job.

If it was a manager that has been approached why would the club in question grant permission to talk and then play hard ball stoppig him leaving ? if they didn't want to lose him they would refuse permission to start with unless he was at a lower club and it would be a step up which they would want to agree compo knowing the manager wants to leave.

I'm sure Wilson is just a coincidence.

What we do need to be wary of though is him phoning Fitton and getting added to the shortlist so the process then starts again

I agree. We should warn Fitton through an internet message board that this could happen.

BBC report Wilson was sacked

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/hartlepool_united/7784326.stm

They imply it was because of a "slump" to being just 7 points above the relegation zone. It surely has to be more than that,  even if not STFC related.

Hmmm! He's had one good season at the monkeyhangers but before that you have to go back to Barnsley for anything like a decent seasonHe was fucking dire at Wednesday, a bit meeeh at City, just missed relegation at Franchise thanks to Wrexham's administration. I can't remember if he survived until the next season, but if he did then he finished the job and took them down.

It's hardly a record of sustained success is it?

At least twice. Getting Wednesday to 12th in the Prem was a reasonable achievement.

Id be happy with him and would put him at least on par with Richard Money...defo have him over John Ward and dirty Sanchez, don't think Gary Speed would be here for long if successful who else is in the frame again....eyes roll

I remember when shitty lost the play off final and couldn't believe he got sacked.....but guess they've done alright-ish since

Thought he got shitty to the play-offs?

He did, but after the 3 or 4 seasons he was in charge there they were still in the 3rd tier where they were when he arrived. That's not a record of sucess.

And he did indeed get Wednesday to the dizzy heights of 12th in the prem in his first season, lifting them all the way from 16th the season before, but spending he spent a lot of money the club didn't have to do it.

He got rid of Di Canio (who was the clubs best player despite being a thoroughly unpleasant twat with a Il Duche obsession) and Carbone and brought in Jonk, DeBilde, Sibon and the lads from Celtic who hardly kicked a ball for the club.  All of them on long contracts and on big wages and they were all a bit shit. The next season they were careering towards relegation when they binned him off. Down they went and they lost a fucking fortune on his signings when a load of players had to be offloaded to trim the wage bill.

As a result they nearly went down again the next season, then finally toppled into the 3rd tier the season after. They're now completely fucked financially.

That's a fucking heavy price to pay for a four place improvement in league position in your first year don't you think?

I'd rather have Andy King back. At least he knew a decent player when he saw one.
