Title: The ABBB
Post by: sonic youth on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 16:29:12
The Anyone But Byrne Brigade

does anyone want to join?

whilst i don't think he's done a bad job under the circumstances, i simply don't see him as a viable option. he's not improved on our position since malpas left and results have a depressing inveitability about them.

that said, i do like him, i like his enthusiasm and passion for the club. he's also still working quite closely with the yoofs, unless i'm mistaken, who are doing incredibly well and have done the past few years.

please apply for membership here. i will be making up laminated cards.

Me too - it's clearly not working with Byrne in charge.

I'm in.

Keep Budgie at the club though, as he's a useful coach, but get rid of Williams and Granville and let the new manager bring in his own staff.

I'm already a member of the FGAFMOFFS (Fitton Get A Fucking Move On For Fucks Sake) but I'm up for being a member.

Oohh laminated cards for the ABBB...swings it for me over the BPFC.

I used to be in a group known as the RTB, Revolutionary Tufty Brigade....not to be confused wth the TC.. Tufty Club....which did sterling work in the 50's and 60's

 http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41331000/jpg/_41331850_tuftybadge.jpg

Membership of the RTB was signified by growing the tuft of facial hair directly under the lower lip whilst shaving all other facial hair off.

Was poncing it up in the members suite yesterday (beats the fucking town end in that weather) and Phil Smith was asking Steve Finney (top bloke btw) about our next manager, Phil said matter-of-factly "Dave Byrne probably wants the job but he isn't really in the running" then went on to discuss potential candidates...

Firstly, thought it was bloody unprofessional of Phil to say something like that as a representative of the club, and also does he know something we, including Dave Byrne, don't?

Personally I wouldn't want Byrne as permanent manager, but surely he is still 'officially' in the running for the role

i think williams' court date is this week,. tomorrow in fact, so i can't see him being here much longer.

granville has ruined two decent goalkeepers.

Yep....perhaps we could install as a TEF symbol....beats fB's eye patch.

JFW might struggle to grow one of substance mind...

I'm in too, things haven't changed since the departure of MM.  Byrne had a big part in the whole MM reign so he and the coaches have to go imo.

Does no one think that maybe our goalkeepers are just lacking confidence - They play shit (to be fair so do other members of the team), get dropped... Keepers dont become bad overnight - Why is everyone givin Phil SMith so much stick , Brez has had some howlers as well, no one seems to remember that .. or chooses to forget it ...
Does anyone know who our No 1 keeper is ?  I bet they dont either - Smith could hardly make eye contact with the supports at Rovers, he needs to be playing with confidence, we should be supporting him, whether you like it or not, he is between sticks, wears the shirt and needs our support ...

I feel for Byrne. I don't really think there's anything else he could do but at the end of the day we're drawing games we should be winning and losing games we should be drawing so something really isn't right. He really cares what happens on the pitch and he isn't afraid to tell it how it is. I like him, and if he is to move on I wish him all the best. I think he'll make a good manager in the future.

You should start a splinter group.

Now you're just being silly.

I'm quite tempted to start an ABBALAINHBIQLRMB(anyone but Byrne as long as its not Holloway but I'd quite like Richard Money Brigade)

I'd agree with that.

I think the results mean he won't be concidered anyway.

heaven forbid, our players like working under Byrne.

There has to be some ulterior motive....

The motive being they probably get a chance to work with the next manager...if hes got sense.

99% of us fans are desperate for Byrne to not get the job. I know i am.

Title: Re: The ABBB
Post by: adje on Monday, December 8, 2008, 00:27:25
How can he be playing shite if he doesn't get a game?My point is that course the players who have the shirts at the moment want Byrne to get the job because a new manager might not fancy them. Its the same as all that"were totally behind the manager"crap that england players used to say about MacLaren-it doesn't mean shit.Im not pro or anti Byrne,as long as its not Holloway I dont really care who gets the job anymore as long as someone gets it this week
