Title: Callum Kennedy Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 18:42:56 superb today, deserves to play at Crewe, Timlin to replace Pook and Brez for Smith and things are looking good!!
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Arriba on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 18:45:31 he didn't look out of place and did alright, but fuck me he wasn't all that.
good league debut yes.pant creaming material some seem to be having no! Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: DV on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 18:47:23 He certainly impressed me, Cleveland Taylor isnt exactly a poor player and I thought he was a left winger so wouldnt surprise me if he was played on the right to expose Kennedy.
Was pleasently surprised with how good he was, certainly deserves to keep his place. Would also agree on the chances JPC mentioned ...but...on the flip side Kyle Lapham and David Stroud both got MotM on their League debuts! Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 18:51:29 Lets hope its not a curse! Good performance today from Kennedy, very pleasing to see. Here's hoping he can continue it.
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 19:23:20 i can understand what aribba is saying, Kennedy prob wasnt the best player but got MOM due to it being his debut and him doing well, but considering it was his debut and hes no where near match fit and up against a good winger he deserves some praise
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Batch on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 19:29:10 I don't think Arriba was saying he didn't do well. But all the players get judged evenly regardless of age and experience. On that basis he was steady rather than spectacular - brilliant ball in for Peacock mind.
You couldn't tell it was his first league game though. He looked comfortable. And he can only improve! Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 19:29:34 kennedy was ace
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: janaage on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 19:32:47 Kennedy today gave us the best performance I've seen at the county ground since Elton John (didn't see that one though).
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: DV on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 19:35:20 Lets hope its not a curse! Good performance today from Kennedy, very pleasing to see. Here's hoping he can continue it. the the Swindon youth player man of the match on your debut but you end up at Supermarine within the next 2 years curse. Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: JOHNNY REEVES on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 19:56:05 one plus from today
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: leefer on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 20:05:05 Byrne will no doubt drop him next week.
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: JOHNNY REEVES on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 20:11:31 i wish someone would drop byrne

Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: adje on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 22:30:08 Kennedy did not look out of his depth-but Man of the Match? That's ridiculous.Hopefully though he will retain his place allowing Timmy to get his midfield place back
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: my-velocity on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 23:47:01 Where's Casal these days?
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: adje on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 23:47:59 Where's Casal these days? Playing ladies masters tennis Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: my-velocity on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 23:50:17 Really, is the masters on...damn been missing that.
But seriously, we paid for him and he's not even being played. It's like buying a brand new car and not using it at all..stupid. Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Nemo on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 23:56:14 I think it's more like having a brand new car which is worse than your tired old one and not using it. It was a bad purchase.
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Posh Red on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 14:55:04 he didn't look out of place and did alright, but fuck me he wasn't all that. good league debut yes.pant creaming material some seem to be having no! I'd agree. He did his job, and certainly didn't look out of place, which is praise enough for a teenager on their league debut. But I don't think that any of the premier league left backs are going to be shaking in their boots at the thought of being replaced by him on that one performance. The one thing I would say, is that if he's needed again we now know that we have another solid option at left back. Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: janaage on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 16:30:13 At left back he's hardly going to set the world alight. I think the key indicator is we didn't miss Timlin yesterday, as Callum was a more than adequate replacement. He did what he had to do defensively, gave the ball away on only a couple of occasions, as most of the time he used the ball well. Fair play to the lad!
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: pauld on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 19:34:03 i wish someone would drop byrne You might want to ask yourself who it is who's brought Kennedy on and moulded him into the player he is now, first in the youth setup when he was in charge of that and then as a first year pro. Oh, yeah, Byrne. Who also brought Morrisson, Tozer and Joyce to the club and initially scouted Cox for Sturrock IIRC. Fucking terrible bloke, isn't he, can't spot a player at all.Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: herthab on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 19:43:09 You might want to ask yourself who it is who's brought Kennedy on and moulded him into the player he is now, first in the youth setup when he was in charge of that and then as a first year pro. Just playing Devils Advocate Paul but King could spot a player too....... Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 19:47:45 King got us to the play-offs. I'd be happy with that.
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: pauld on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 19:52:00 Just playing Devils Advocate Paul but King could spot a player too....... Yep, fair play to your Satanic Avocado, just trying to redress the balance some. To read some posters, you'd think Byrne was Steve McClaren (at England), Gary Glitter and Karen Matthews rolled into one. He's brought a lot to the club, done two stints as caretaker under difficult circumstances (the first due to the club possibly not having a future, the second difficult in that he picked up a nightmare run of four games to take over as caretaker and a team low on confidence) and shown a sight more loyalty than many do in the game these days. I think that deserves some credit but the way some people go on, you'd think he'd been round their houses and shit in their slippers.Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 19:54:53 Petty he cant spot that a midfield of pook.peacock and mcgovern lacks pace and creativity though paul.

Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: JPC82 on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 20:10:30 Woaney brought Callum to the club and played under Woaney and Dave Lee at youth level before Dave Byrne
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 20:16:05 I can see how this thread is going to go
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Tails on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 20:22:00 I thought Kennedy was excellent yesterday and fully deserves to start against Crewe. Didn't really put a foot wrong!
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Scot Munroe on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 21:28:11 i was impressed with Kennedy yesterday did not look out of place and looked calm on the ball.
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Batch on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 21:31:21 I thought Kennedy was excellent yesterday and fully deserves to start against Crewe. Didn't really put a foot wrong! I'd start with Timlin given a straight choice, Kennedy didn't put a foot wrong but Timlin has looked solid since moving back there. Kennedy will get his chance. Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: pauld on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 23:01:08 Woaney brought Callum to the club and played under Woaney and Dave Lee at youth level before Dave Byrne I didn't say any different did I? But he's played under Byrne for what the past two-three years, hence the words "brought him on and developed him" as opposed to "single-handedly responsible for every aspect of his being brought into the club etc". And credit to Lee and Woan as well. What's Woan up to these days, btw?Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: JPC82 on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 23:15:24 woaney is youth team boss at pompy
Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: pauld on Sunday, December 7, 2008, 23:20:41 woaney is youth team boss at pompy Cheers, hope he's doing well, we could definitely do with a player like him now. Title: Re: Callum Kennedy Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Monday, December 8, 2008, 08:15:11 woaney?
