Title: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:48:41 On renewing my CAMRA membership for another year, I've been given 40 vouchers worth 50p each that can be redeemed against the cost of a pint of real ale in Wetherspoons pubs. We don't have so many Wetherspoons pubs in our area, but I think there are a fair few in Swindon. If anyone would like the vouchers as an early Christmas present, PM your name and address to me and I'd be happy to send them along.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Sippo on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:49:48 How much is it to join Camra?
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:51:25 It's £22 for a year's subscription. Joint subscription for couples costs something like £28.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:52:48 Sippo wins! I'll stick them in the post this morning, my friend. Happy drinking.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Paolo69 on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:56:52 Bugger. Just beaten.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:02:01 Paolo - see your PM.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Sippo on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:07:50 I just need to get some 'friends' now...
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:10:47 Good luck with that.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:28:37 I've met you Sippo and you don't have a beard, or wear tweed jackets with leather elbow patches.
Why are you interested in CAMRA? Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Paolo69 on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:29:59 Cheers Ardiles and sorry Sippo.
And Herthab its because its proper beer. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:32:02 They have two Beer Festivals a year in my local. Usually it's a great place to drink, but on those two weekends it's invaded by beardy twats, walking around with half pint glasses, ticking off boxes on a piece of card.
I'll stick to Carling. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:38:29 Stereotypes are fun, I'll give you that. I'm not beardy, and don't have a tweed jacket (let alone one with elbow patches on). I just like to taste something other than fizz when I have a beer!
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:40:22 Stereotypes are fun, I'll give you that. I'm not beardy, and don't have a tweed jacket (let alone one with elbow patches on). I just like to taste something other than fizz when I have a beer! I'm not stereotying them, that's what they look like! Obviously my only knowledge of CAMRA is from what they look like down here. Maybe in other parts of the Country they're all young and groovy.... Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Paolo69 on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:42:47 Likewise Ardiles. I have only been converted in the last 2 years but now rarely drink any lager at all.
We need to show Herthab the error of his misguided ways... I'm young (ish) although not sure about the groovy bit. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: A Gent Orange on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:48:19 I'm not young or groovy - I look like a cross between Gollum and William Hague but I don't have a beard and I always drink pints not halves.
Anyway in the name of balance - anyone who drinks lager is a mono-browed, asbestos-livered mouth-breather. http://thegoodbeerblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/real-ale-real-people.html Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:50:21 I'm not young or groovy - I look like a cross between Gollum and William Hague but I don't have a beard and I always drink pints not halves. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Sippo on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 10:36:33 I've met you Sippo and you don't have a beard, or wear tweed jackets with leather elbow patches. Why are you interested in CAMRA? Good beers. One thing I hate is pubs that don't clean their pipes. You should go to a beer festival. http://www.photosaroundswindon.co.uk/galleries/2008a/index.html Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: donkey on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 21:05:45 I guess I'm lucky in that I can drink lager, bitter, stout or mild as the mood takes me, so long as it's good stuff. Walking down the pub on Friday after work, it's a nice feeling deciding what I'll drink. I've been drinking a lot of black lagers recently...however, I will now open a bottle of Ukrainian wheat beer.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 21:13:24 I was drinking quite a bit of Farmer's Christmas Stout this week in an old man's pub in Maldon. The beer was excellent, although quite pricey at £3 a pint.

Likewise...depends on mood, pub, weather, time of day, time of year etc. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 21:19:24 Good beers. Chippenham used to have a decent one, not sure if it's still going. Dodgy beer lines are shit but sometimes its a dodgy barrel as well which pub managers should declare as ullage and gets picked up or disposed of by a technician. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, December 5, 2008, 08:20:43 Cider is the drink of gods.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Sippo on Friday, December 5, 2008, 08:29:38 At the beerex the ciders were immense. Real Cider I mean, not strongbow/magners/other crap. At 7.8% you cannot go wrong.
Well you can like me, because if you drink too much your gut kills the next morning. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: herthab on Friday, December 5, 2008, 08:32:09 Some of the ciders down here are fucking lethal. There's one called Black Rat. I've seen hardened beer drinkers reduced to gibbering wrecks after a session on that.
Nasty shit. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: land_of_bo on Friday, December 5, 2008, 08:58:32 If you're gonna drink cider then there is only one choice, Cheddar Valley.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Friday, December 5, 2008, 09:06:42 In nmy early/mid 20s I used to drink lager in summer and beer/ales in winter as a rule, but as time has gone on I've dropped drinking lager almost completely. In summer these days I tend to go for IPAs...which I'm really quite in to now. A great style of beer.

Wash four pints of that down with a couple of bottles of Natch and see if you can still find your way home :-) Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: juddie on Friday, December 5, 2008, 16:31:29 I used to drink guinness in winter and lager in summer, but I tend to stick to the black stuff all year round now. Can't beat a Guinness.

Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Friday, December 5, 2008, 17:04:07 sort of like lambrini or cheap wine - ist for an 80's themed Christmas party! the client requested it!

I have 40 more vouchers. Same deal as last year. (See start of thread.) PM me by the end of the weekend if you want some and I'll send them along.
Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: dell boy on Saturday, November 14, 2009, 10:00:30 we currently have 24 crates of babycham in our office!! Drink it with Brandy JFW. In the 70s Brandy and Babycham was the girls favourite drink and also the most expensive. Drink wise, I like strong ales and strong lagers - always prefer quality to quantity. Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: Ardiles on Monday, November 16, 2009, 16:23:42 Bump (in case anyone missed this at the weekend). No takers so far.

Why are you interested in CAMRA? I joined CAMRA when it started. It soon became Europe's largest consumer group. Where can I get a false beard and a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches? Title: Re: CAMRA Real Ale Vouchers Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 22:01:20 Bump (in case anyone missed this at the weekend). No takers so far. I completely missed this. I posted the lot to ghanimah this afternoon; he was the only one who came back to me. Had to split them last year.
